“Aasra” (1966) was a Seven arts Pictures production. It was produced by Madan Mohla and directed by Satyen Bose. The movie had Mala Sinha, Biswajeet, Balraj Sahni, Ameeta, Nirupa Roy, Jagdeep, David, Pravin Paul, Deepak Mukherjee, Bela Bose, Laxmi Chhaya, Baby Farida, Polson, Sabina, Lata Arora, Archana Kapoor, Narbada Shanker, Mukunda Bannerjee, Master Shahid, Master Javed, Baby Guddi, Baby Pammi, Baby Minoti etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Five songs from the movie have been discussed in the past.

The songs discussed in the past were all superb songs, so much so that I was tempted to hold them back to be used on special occasions. I in fact used two of the songs of this movie as century songs in the blog.

Here is the sixth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata. It is picturised on Ameeta who performs a dance in a family get together in front of elders viz. Biswajeet’s parents (played by Balraj Sahni and Nirupa Roy), and Ameeta’s parents (played by David and a lady whom I am unable to identify). Jagdeep plays the tabla while Baby Farida is at the Sitar. The idea behind this musical performance is to impress the parents of Biswajeet whom Ameeta hopes to win over in her attempt to become their bahu.

Today (22 january 2014) is the 98th birth anniversary of Satyen Bose. So this song also serves the purpose of remembering Satyen Bose, the famous film director of the past.

With this song, “Aasra” (1966) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
