“Gora Aur Kaala”(1972) was directed by Naresh Kumar for Shankar movies, Bombay. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Hema Malini, Rekha (special appearance), Prem Chopra, Jagdeep, Madan Puri, Sulochana, Premnath, Sanjana, Sunder Randheer,Hiralal, Bashir,Rajan Haksar, Ram Mohan, Kamal Deep, Tilakraj, Prannath, Ghulab Singh, Abdul Ghani, Aziz Sheikh, Rashid Khan, Pandit Rammurty, Shobha, Sawan Kumar etc in it.
Director Naresh Kumar was Rajendra Kumar’s brother, and so this movie was Rajendra Kumar’s home production.
This movie had six songs in it that were quite popular during its time. As many as five of these songs have been covered in the past.

One can notice that two songs from the movie were posted on the same day (21 July 2021). The reason was that they were independently sent by two guest posters for celebrating various anniversaries of artists that fell on the same day and/or nearby dates.
These guest posters (Peevesie’s mom amd Raja) had also described the story of the movie. Here is what Raja had to say about the movie (after watching it for the first time just one day before):
Gora Aur Kala (1972) has Rajendra Kumar in a double role – twin brothers separated at birth, when their father, the king, is betrayed and killed by his own minister.
Subjects loyal to the king, realising the danger to the babies’ lives, take them under their guardianship and flee the palace in different directions.
Their mother, the queen, also flees, but is captured.
The brothers grow up in their own ways, both become ace swordsmen.
The film has its fair share of swordfights (reminiscent of Suraj), with the romantic angle provided by Rekha (whose love isn’t reciprocated) and Hema Malini.
Eventually the brothers re-unite, and fight to recapture their kingdom.
All in all, I found the film ok, and even enjoyable to an extent – but then I didn’t start with any expectations.
Here is the sixth and final song from “Gora Aur Kaala”(1972) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar.Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
The song is picturised as a singing under duress in a rajdarbaar on Hema Malini, with a sadistic king/ prince Prem Chopra looks on from his throne.
With this song, all the six songs of the movie get covered in the blog. The movie “Gora Aur Kaala”(1972) thus joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.
