There was a movie called “Amar Kahaani” (1949) and then there was another movie called “Kanchan” (1955). Both these movies were directed by Baij Sharma under Kamal Kunj Chitra and the star cast consisted of Jairaj, Suraiya, Mehta, Ranjana etc.
I find that the two movies had identical songs in them. In other words, the songs of “Amar Kahaani” (1949) were reused in “Kanchan” (1955). I am not sure what is the background information about this state of affairs. My guess is that the movie “Amar Kahaani” (1949) may have done poorly at the box office when it was first released. The same movie was repackaged under the new name of “Kanchan” and was released in 1955.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.
The fact that the two movies had the same songs has led to considerable confusion in the blog. I often posted the same song twice under these two movies and when I realised this folly I had to delete the duplicate post or replace that with a fresh post with some other song.
As many as five songs from “Amar Kahaani”(1949)/”Kanchan”(1955) have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song. This song is sung by Suraiyya. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
