Ah yes, getting back to 1950 and the series of pending Mukesh songs. The film ‘Hanste Aansoo’ has as many as five songs by Mukesh, one being a solo and the remaining 4 are sung in accompaniment of other singers viz. Rajkumari, GM Durrani, Rafi Sb and Shamshad Begum. Of these five songs, four are already posted and today we come to the fifth Mukesh song from this film. And this one is a duet with Lata ji.
These two singers started to sing together in 1948. As per the records, by the time 1950 came to a close, they had sung 9 songs together. Of these, 2 were in 1948, 2 in 1949 and then 5 in 1950. So with this song, we are also
completing the listing of Mukesh ji’s duets with Lata, till the end of 1950.
The film is from the banner of Akash Chitra, Bombay and is directed by KB Lal. The music for the eleven songs in this film is composed by the redoubtable Ghulam Mohammed. The lyrics writing is shared between Shewan Rizvi and Majrooh Sultanpuri. This particular song is from the pen of Shewan Rizvi.
The cast of actors indicates this could have been a light hearted film. The list includes Madhubala, Moti Lal, Gope, Manorama, Mirza Musharraf, Jankidas, Kapil amongst others. The song itself is a light hearted exchange between lovers. The gentleman is requesting the lady to make sure her aim is true, since he has placed his heart on the target. And the lady is cautioning him that he might have to lose the ownership of his own heart. When the gentleman persists and claims that he is born, only to serve the fairer gender, then the lady takes up his challenge, asks him to take off his glasses, bow down his head and wait for the volley of arrows from her.
