“Rangeen Zamaana” (1948) was produced and directed by M Bhavnani. The movie had Premnath, Monica Desai, Gope etc in it.
Here is an obscure song from this obscure movie. This song is sung by Zohrabai Ambalewaali. Pt Phani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govindram.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song. Going by the lyrics of this song, my guess is that it was a mujra song, but I could be wrong.

tirchhi najariya mila ke dil loot liya

haaye haaye saajna aa
tirchhi najariya mila ke dil loot liya
soyee jawaani jagaa ke baalam chal diye

kaise bahaane bana ke baalam chal diye

haay bedardi toone kaisa mohe dhokha diya

tirchhi najariya mila ke dil loot liya
haaye dil loot liya
dil ki baat na poochhe mose
jhoothhe kare bahaane
dil ki baat na poochhe mose
jhoothhe kare bahaane
aankh bachaa ke mose apni kahaan jaaye na jaane
aankh bachaa ke mose apni kahaan jaaye na jaane
aaj maine sautan ke ghar jaate use dekh liya
aaj maine sautan ke ghar jaate use dekh liya
haaye bedardi toone kaisa mohe dhokha diya
haaye bedardi toone kaisa mohe dhokha diya

tirchhi najariya mila ke dil loot liya
haaye dil loot liya

Atul ji,
You are right in saying that this film-Rangeen Zamana-48 was an obscure film. It was indeed, because this film was first made as AJIT and last minute name was changed to Rangeen Zamana.
It is actually a milestone film in Indian Film history for two reasons.
First , it was the First colour film shot on Kodachrome film, with a 16 mm Camera and the print was enlarged to 35 mm in Hollywood in 1948.
Secondly,it was the last film of Mohan Dayaram Bhavnani-india’s most educated and Techno-savvy director of his times.
Mohan Dayaram Bhavnani was born in 1903 in Hyderabad (sind). He studied B. Tech in Manchester 1921-24. Then he went to Germany and studied film making. He joined kohinoor Film co. first and later many others, directing 20 silent films. His llast silent film was Vasantsena-30,in which he found his wife Enakshi Rama Rau-the film’s Heroine and later a renowned Dancer of India, with international fame.
Then he went to Germany again to learn sound recording techniques.
Bhavnani directed about 20 Talkie films, starting with Shakuntala-1931 and ending with Rangeen Zamana-48. Durga Khote debuted in his Farebi jaal-1931. In 1948,he was called to Films Division to become its Chief producer till 1955. In 1958,he was invited by Chou En Lai to make films in China. he was in China for 5 years, with indian cameramen.
he died in 1963.
The film Rangeen Zamana was a Rajpoot drama featuring adventures and tender romance.
