Regulars may have noticed that no song was discussed in the blog yesterday till late at night. It is not that I could not find time yesterday. The whole morning was available to me. Regulars may be noticing that I discuss one Suraiyya song every day which is often one of the first songs to be discussed for the day and that has been going on for the past three months.
Yesterday also, I decided to discuss a Suraiyya song as the first song of the day. But when I looked at the list of available Suraiyya songs lyrics contributions with me, I discovered that I had exhaused the supply and now I had no more Suraiyya songs left to be discussed, except a few that are held back for special occasions like say Deewaali etc. Moreover, no more Suraiyya songs seem to be available on YT for us to cover.
In other words, we are now scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as Suraiyya songs are concerned. That is quite natural and normal seeing that Suraiyya sang just over 300 film songs in her career (one online figure puts it at 306). and this blog has already discussed 278 Suraityya songs. So around 30 odd Suraiyya songs are still left to be covered.
I have the list of songs that Suraiyya has sung and so I am searching for the as yet undiscussed Suraiyya songs. I spent the whole morning in this exercise yesterday but I was unable to locate any undiscussed Suraiyya song the whole morning. And after that I had no time till night to spare.
Today morning, I once again resumed my exercise and managed to locate a few Suraiyya songs. These are songs that were not available on YT till now. In fact the remaining Suraiyya songs to be discussed will all be rare songs not available on YT till now.
Here is a song from “Kaanoon” (1943). This song is sung by Shyam Kumar and Suraiyya. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.
This is the third song from this movie to appear in the blog. This movie was produced and directed by A R Kardar. The movie had Shahu Modak, Mehtab, A Shah, Gajanan Jagirdar, Badri Prasad, Ulhas, Nirmala etc in it.
Only the audio of this song is available. My guess is taht this song was picturised on Shahu Modak and Mehtab.

I have enjoyed Shyam Kumar and Suraiyaji both were talented . In 1949
few singers had talents but luck and influence were main thing in those days . I truly enjoyed this song .Keep it up ……
