“My Sister”(1944) was directed by Hem Chandra for New Theatres, Calcutta. This movie had K L Saigal, Sumitra Devi, Nawab, Akhtar Jahaan, Chandrawati, Hiralal, Tulsi Chakravorti, Tandon, Shor, Rajlaxmi etc in it.

This movie is well known for its songs sung by K L Saigal. But the other songs of the movie are rather less known. This movie had seven songs in it. Four of them were solos with K L Saigal. Remaining three songs were female solos.

Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the seventh and final song from “My Sister” (1944). Pt Bhushan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pankaj Mullick.

HFGK mentions this song as sung by Rekha Malik. But there is no such singer. This is the screen name of Chandrawati who plays the character of Rekha Malik in the movie.

The two other female solos of the movie were sung by Utpala Sen and Suprabha Sarkar. though the YT uploader mentions this song as sung by Utpala Sen, I have my doubts. The voice does not sound quite the same to me when I compare it with other songs of Utpala Sen available online, including the other song in this movie itself where she had sung for Akhtar Jahaan (playing the character of Vimla). Seeing that Suprabha Sarkar sang the other female solo song (also picturised on Chandrawati ), I feel that this song too is sung by Suprabha Sarkar. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.

I find that the three female solos of this song have been overshadowed by the four K L Saigal solos, but these three female solos of “My Sister” (1944) are superb songs in their own right and they deserve to be much better known.

I have not been able to get the lyrics of this song to the full of my satisfaction. i request our readers with keener ears to point out the missing /correct words wherever applicable.

With this song, “My Sister” (1944) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics

ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar

ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar

kyun rahen hum
kyun rahen hum
kyun rahen hum iske saath
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar

suno(?) o o o

is hare ped ki daalon par
is hare ped ki daalon par
do nek parinde rehte
??
prem kahaani kehte

hansti
hansti basti is duniya mein
ik roz shikaari aaya
jisne
jisne jalkar
un dono per ik aisa teer chalaaya
mil gaya khaaq mein
swarg sa sundar
mil gaya khaaq mein
swarg sa sundar
wo pyaara gharbaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
kyun rahen hum
kyun rahen hum
kyun rahen hum iske saath
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar

ye masti bhari jawaani
ye masti bhari jawaani
ye roop rang madmaata
aankhon mein nasha sa laata
dil mein amrit tarsaata
jab jaaye jawaani beet
tab kahen ye man ke meet
bas parey parey
ae ae ae
ae ae ae
ae ae
bas parey parey jaa dhoondh le koi
apne jaisa yaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
kyun rahe ham
kyun rahe ham
kyun rahe ham iske saath
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar

?? ik nange bhookhe sotey
kuchh odhhe shaal dushaale
kuchh ko ?? taaqat ka
kuchh ko jeene ke laale
yahaan paani doodh ke bhaav bike
matti sone ke mol
kankar ko pooje
shankar ??
thhukraaye ratan anmol
nit nayi niraali
nit nayi niraali
raaton ki
rehti hai yahaan bharmaar
rehti hai yahaan bharmaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
kyun rahe hum
kyun rahe hum
kyun rahe hum
iske saath
ye matlab ka sansaar
ye matlab ka sansaar
