“Dekh Kabira Roya” (1957) was produced and directed by Amiya Chakraborty for Srirangam, Bombay. The movie had Anita Guha, Ameeta, Anoop Kumar, Daljit, Jawahar Kaul, Shubha Khote, Shivraj, Pravin Paul, Shyam Kumar, Ridku, Robert, Balwant Rahi, Chandabai, Shanti, Omkarnath, Shankarrao Nagarkar, Rampal, Sundar etc in it.
Nine out of its ten songs have been discussed in the blog.
The tenth and final song was not available. It was to locate this song that I watched the movie. It was then that I got a gist of the story line of this movie. The movie is a light hearted tale of three out of job men – a singer, a painter and an editor, and three girls fall in love with them, mistaking them for the other. Thus, the music loving girl falls for the painter, mistaking him for the singer, painting loving girl falls for the editor, mistaking him for the painter while the girl with the literary bent falls for the singer, mistaking him for the editor.
In this tenth and final song, the music loving girl Ameeta, who has fallen in love with Jawahar KaulDaljit Puri (thinking him to be a singer) takes him to meet her mother (Pravin Paul). Pravin Paul insists that he should sing a bhajan. He tries to wriggle out of the situation but to no avail. He had to sing while Pravin Paul too joins in the singing (in Sudha Malhotra’s voice). All this while, Ameeta is away, as she has been sent to the market by Pravin Paul to bring some sweets.
This song is sung by an unindentified male voice (he could be Jawahar KaulDaljit Puri himself) and Sudha Malhotra. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify this male voice whose identity is not yet known.
With this song, “Dekh Kabira Roya” (1957) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Dear Atul ji,
Congratulations for covering all the songs of “Dekh Kabira Roya”, a favourite movie, which I had seen many times during my pre-teen years. Madan Mohan at his very best. (Was he ever less than very good?)
It was a movie whose each song was a gem. Indeed, it is difficult to say which is the best song in the film. I mean one would be at a loss to compare Manna Da rendering ‘Kaun Aaya Mere Man Ke Dware’ with Lata Didi’s ‘Meri Veena Tum Bin Roye’ & ‘Tu Pyar Kare Ya Thukra De’, not to say about Asha Tai’s ‘Ashkon Se Teri Humne Tasveer Banayi Hai’.
However, to each his own: My personal favourite happens to be ” Hum Se Aaya Na Gaya’.
Thanks once again and with best wishes,
Avadh Lal

Dont know about the male singer, but the male actor is Daljeet Puri and not Jawahar Kaul.
Also, if u watched the entire movie with concentration, u would have found the 11th song 🙂

Thanks for the identification.
I only watched parts of the movie in order to locate this song. I did not realise that the movie had another song in it (HFGK mentions only ten songs).

Oh its just a parody, obviously not covered by HFGK, but as u know, becomes important for a small artist like Sunder. Also, he is hilarious! 🙂 I do, but not really necessary to consider it as 11th song…
