“Bhakt Surdas” (1942) was directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi for Ranjit Movietone, Bombay. This movie had K L Saigal, Khursheed Bano, Monika Desai, Nagendra, M Saigal, N Desai, Dharpure, Kesar Bai etc in it.
This movie had fifteen songs in it. As many as thirteen songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the fourteenth song from the movie. This song is sung by Khursheed Bano. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt.
Only the audio of this song is available. It is clear that the song was picturised on Khursheed Bano herself.
The only song yet to be discussed is “Manwa Krishn naam ratey jaa”. It is a K L Saigal songs that is no long available. So unless this song miraculously reappears, “Bhakt Surdas” (1942) will remain one song short of having all its songs covered in the blog.
PS-D N Madhok had written another song with the same title two decades later in “Maharani Padmini”(1964) where the first stanza was almost identical before the next stanza varied from the lyrics of this song. When I originally tried to discuss this “Bhakt Surdas” (1942) song one year ago, I landed up at the “Maharani Padmini” (1964) song instead. This “Bhakt Surdas” (1942) song has become available on YT only recently.

We need to evolve a policy where if there is absolutely no possibility of finding the last few songs of a film the account should be closed. Of course in due course if such songs are found they can be taken in the fold. What say.

We need to evolve a policy where if there is absolutely no possibility of finding the last few songs of a film the account should be closed. Of course in due course if such songs are found they can be taken in the fold. What say.
