“Vidyapati” (1937) was directed by Debaki Basu for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Prithviraj Kapoor, Chhaaaya Devi, Pahadi Sanyal, Kanan Devi, Nemo, K C Dey, Kedar, Rampyari, Mohammad Ishaaq, K N Singh, Leela Desai etc in it.
Seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the eighth song from the movie. HFGK mentions this song as sung by K C Dey, Pahadi Sanyal and Kanan Devi. But only two voices can be heard in the song which is taken from the soundtrack of the movie. I am not sure about the male voice. The song is sung by a singer-actor who plays Madhusudan in the movie. It could be either Pahadi Sanyal or K C Dey. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the male voice of this song. HFGK mentions this song as sung by K C Dey, Pahadi Sanyal and Kanan Devi, but the song appears to be sung by just one male voice and not two. The song link is taken from the movie soundtrack. It is not known whether records of this song were issued as HFGK is silent about this matter.

Atul ji,
Since K C Dey had done the role of Rajguru,this song must be of Pahadi Sanyal only,with Kanan Devi.

Arun ji, Atul ji,
The song does have three voices – KC Dey, Pahadi Sanyal and Kanan Devi. Actually, KC Dey has sung most the male voice part of the song, with Pahadi Sanyal singing just a few lines near the start of the song. And the combination of singing voice is little more intiricate than just a duet. I have uploaded the video of this song and have sent the details and ‘recolored’ lyrics to Atul ji earlier in the day today.

KC Dey does not play the role of Rajguru in this film. Pahadi Sanyal is playing the role of the poet Vidyapati. Kanan Devi plays the role of Anuradha and KC Dey plays the role of Madhusudan, both associates of Vidyapati in his village. When King Shiva Singha, a childhood friend Vidyapati, invites the poet to his court, Anuradha and Madhusudan accomnpany him to Mithila.
