“Aaiye” (1949) was directed by Yakoob for Indian Production, Bombay. This movie had Yakoob, Sulochana Chatterji, Masood, Ashraf Khan, Janki Das, Sheila Naik, Tasneem, Charlie, Wali Muhammad, Munshi Munaqqa, Abu Bakar, Saleem, Muhammad Ali, Gaffar, Mubarak Begam, Baby Mumtaz etc in it.
Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Today (3 january 2014) is the 34th death anniversary of Naashaad, who died this day in 1981 in Lahore, Pakistan. If one looks at online sources, many of them mention 14 january 1981 as the date of death of Naashaad which is incorrect and it is yet another example of mindless copying by online sites without checking up the accuracy of facts. In this case it is wikipedia which seems to be the source of this inaccurate information. Published books and other knowledgeable sources (viz SLBC) are aware of the accurate date. How I hope that internet can somehow be prevented from spreading disinformation, especially when it comes to information about HFM.
As a tribute to Nashaad (born as Shaukat Hussain Haidari), here is the fourth song from “Aaiye”(1949) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Lata and Mubarak Begam. Most songs from this movie were penned by Nakshab, but this particular song is written by S H Bihari. Music is composed by Naashaad, of course, who had yet to acquire his nom de plume of “Naashaad” at that time.
