Today (27 january 2015) is the ninth death anniversary of Sardar Malik (1925- 27 january 2006).
Here is a song from “Saaranga”(1960) as a tribute to Sardar Malik. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and picturised on Jayshree Gadkar, who is leaving for her sauraal after being forced to marry someone else other than her beloved. She writes a letter to her beloved (Sudesh Kumar) asking him to forget her. Sudesh Kumar reads this letter and the face of Jayshree Gadkar appears on the letter and the initial few lines of the contents of the letter are uttered by her. Then she is shown singing the rest of the contents of the letter seated in her “doli” as she is gong to her sasuraal. In a way, this is a bidaai song sung by the bride herself.
This song, the eighth from the movie to appear in the blog is penned by Bharat Vyas. Music is composed by Sardar Malik.
