“Girl Friend”(1960) was directed by Satyen Bose for Basu Chitra Mandir, Bombay and it had Kishore Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Bipin Gupta, Nazeer Hussain, Leela Mishra, Jagdev, Dhumal, Gautam, Keshto, Master Anwar, Daisy Irani etc in it. This is perhaps the only movie where Kishore Kumar and Waheeda Rehman were paired together in lead roles.
This movie is a forgotten movie and even its songs are by and large forgotten. But the songs of this movie are gems that need to be better known among music lovers.
This movie had seven songs in it. As many as six of these songs have already been covered in the blog. This included the timeless classic (and the most well known song from the movie namely Kashti kaa khaamosh safar which was a duet of Kishore Kumar and Sudha Malhotra.
This movie had two “money” songs in it, viz. Na dhhela lagta hai na paisa lagta hai and Kehte hain ise paisa bachchon .
A song from this movie viz.Aaj ronaa padaa to samjhe was the 100th song of Hemant Kumar in the blog as a music director.
This movie had two fantastic rare solos by Kishore Kumar namely O madam main paagal hoon and Jhuk jhuk bhoori maa ko karo parnaam .
An interesting fact about the songs of this movie is that majority of lyrics for them were sent to me by Avinash Scrapwala.
Here is the seventh and final song from this movie. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar. Avinash Scrapwala, who sent the lyrics for majority of songs of this movie sent me the lyrics of this song as well.
Only the audio of this song is available. It appears the the video of this movie is no longer available and therefore we only have the audio of the songs of this movie available. And we are extremely thankful for such small mercies. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song. My guess is that the song was picturised on Kishore Kumar and Waheeda Rehman.

When I note that 04 songs from this film are pending, I started searching for them, and they were not easily found, first I found ‘o madam come.. come’ then ‘paise ki kahaani’,and shared them, then I keep the search continued and one day I found that the YT uploader had recently uploaded the song ‘jhuk jhuk bhoori maa ko’, then only song was balance and it was getting difficult. On 5th Feb I note that its audio was available on a songs’ site, so I send the link to my friend (an IT person) to convert it and upload on YT but its download was not enabled.
But finally few days back when I checked on YT this final song ‘boom booma boom’ has already been uploaded on YT on 24 th Feb, so finally we get all songs for this movie completed.
