‘Mutthhi Bhar Chaawal-1975’ was directed by Surendra Shailaj for Satyam Shivam Sundaram Movies and was a ‘social film’. As per the information available on some of the websites this film was produced by Rakesh Chandra. The star cast of this movie includes Mallika Sarabhai, Rakesh Pande, Jayashree T, Gajanan Jagirdar, Purnima, Chandrashekhar, Lily Chakravarti, Satyen Kappu, Bramhachari, Neelu Phule, Shefali, Mirza Musharraf, Anoop Kumar, Usha, Mohammad Ali, Master Rajesh, Vivek, Jagdish Raj, Ram Bhai (debutant) and others.
Music of this film is composed by Khayyam Sb, while Jaan Nisar Akhtar and Maya Govind have penned lyrics for two songs each, from the total of four songs of this movie. Mahendra Kapoor, Asha Bhonsle and Mukesh have given their voices for the four songs of this movie. Today, we are posting the the first song of this movie on the blog. This song is sung by Mukesh and lyrics are by Jaan Nisar Akhtar.
As I was checking online, I find that a film by the same name was also made in Pakistan in 1978. The Pakistani film is based on the famous novel ‘Ek Chaadar Maili Si’, by Shri Rajinder Singh Bedi. (Note: A Hindi film starring Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor was also made in 1986, based on this novel, which I am sure all will be familiar with.)
It is not certain whether the movie we are discussing in this post (‘Mutthhi Bhar Chawal-1975’) is also based on the same novel. I cannot find any such reference being made either in the HFGK (Vol 5) or on the Wiki link site for the author, Shri Rajinder Singh Bedi. As I tried to find more information on this film and its other songs, practically all available links lead to the film made in Pakistan only. I request knowledgeable readers who have more information on this, to please add more information. As such, I presume that this ‘obscure’ movie is not based on the novel mentioned above. I could locate only one reference to this film, on website MuVyz.com. This website gives a brief plot for the film here .
The films music being composed by Khayyam Sb triggers my interest to know more about other songs of this movie. The wiki link on Khayyam Sb also does not mention this film in his filmography. As of now I have been able to locate only this one song which is being presented today. Even I had not heard this song earlier. Being a song in the soothing voice of Mukesh, it turns out to be a wonderful song, sadly lost in the sands of time. Listen and enjoy this forgotten song from a forgotten movie.
Song – Kaahe Pagli Barkha Chhai Tere In Do Nainan Mein (Muthi Bhar Chaawal) (1975) Singer – Mukesh, Lyrics – Jaan Nisar Akhtar, MD – Khayyaam
Lyrics
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
kaahe pagli barkha chhaayi
tere in do nainan mein
kaahe pagli barkha chhaayi
tere in do nainan mein
jaane aise kitne mausam
aayen jaayen jeewan mein
duniya sulgi aag hai maana
jalne de is aag mein dil
duniya sulgi aag hai maana
jalne de is aag mein dil
aag lage se hota kya hai
phir bhi khushboo chandan mein
kaahe pagli barkha chhaayi
tere in do nainan mein
pal pal mujhko aisa lagta
beet chaley andhiyaare din
pal pal mujhko aisa lagta
beet chaley andhiyaare din
koi suraj jhaank rahaa hai
mere man ke aangan mein
maine teri khaatir kitne
sundar sapne dekhe hain
maine teri khaatir kitne
sundar sapne dekhe hain
maathe jhoomar pairon paayal
haath saje hai kangan mein
kaahe pagli barkha chhaayi
tere in do nainan mein
