What to write about the voice for which no information is apparently traceable. Many artists of the 1930s have become obscure. The Indian cinema industry is notorious for ignoring its own history and roots. There have been no industry supported or sponsored programs or efforts aimed as compiling and collating the history of its own.
Akbar Khan Durrani Peshawari – a voice that appears to be a trained classical singer, has no traceable information available, other than of course the listings in the Geet Kosh, that identify maybe about 5 songs sung by him. Searching on the YouTube, one can locate maybe about four or five of his songs, all of which are not identified in the Geet Kosh. There are two songs from the film ‘Sultaana’ (1934), which are available in his voice. Both are wonderful gems – “Kitaab e Dard mein Likha Mere Gham Ka Fasaana Hai” and “Mushkil Kushaa Hai Naam Tera”. On the blog, we have one more song in his voice already posted; the film is ‘Postman’ (1938) and the song “Hauslaa Aashiq Ko Chaahiye Dil Ko Lagaane Ke Liye“.
The song I present today is another gem of a song from the 1936 film ‘Sunehra Sansaar’. The lyrics writer is identified as Vijay Kumar and the music direction is by the redoubtable KC Dey. I turn my request to the knowledgeable friends and readers of this blog to kindly help in posting more information for the singer Akbar Khan Durrani Peshawari.
The song has been posted online by Shalin Bhatt ji. The YouTube link informs that the image uploaded with this song is that Kamla Jharia and Vijay Kumar. These are two names that appear in the cast list of actors of this film.
The lyrics of this song have been identified with the help from Shri Harmandir Singh ji ‘Hamraaz’, who helped to correct the lyrics as I had scripted on listening to the song. My first impression on listening to this song was that it could have been a rail song. But as we delve into the verses, we find that the intent of this song is different. Is it talking about life? So one more request to other readers and friends to add more about the song and its verses.

The Abla song is not available on U-Tube>a challenge people to upload it. Why copy U-Tube blindly which is accessible to all.

The list of songs by Akbar Khan Durrani Peshawari that you have inserted above is woefully incomplete. If you are getting this information from Wikipedia / myswar / earthmusic, please be informed that these sources are in no way complete references and neither they are accurate. For pulling together such information, we have to refer to multiple sources, and of course, check and verify before committing to print.
Pulling up this name on You Tube will bring up 8 or 9 songs right away. These songs have been posted by music lovers who have the records and have identified the singer. Further, the Geet Kosh also lists another two songs (not available), from the 1936 film ‘Baaghi Sipahi’.
I would once again request that either you should post complete and verified information. If not, please append a sentence that acknowledges that the data you are posting may be incomplete and inaccurate.

I have not said the info is complete. It is just additional info. If anybody wants to add further, he is free to do so. But sad to add nobody is doing it.
