“Around the world”(1967) was produced and directed by Paachi, whose real name was Bakshi Jogender Singh and he was the younger brother of actor Omprakash.
The full title of this movie was “Around the world in eight dollars”. Those were the days when there were heavy restrictions on Indians travelling abroad as far as taking foreign currency with them was concerned. Each application for foreign travel had to fill up a P-Form which allowed them only US $ 8.00 (or its equivalent) to take with them while travelling abroad. How an Indian tourist was expected to manage with US $ 8.00 during his foreign travel is something that only the government officials of those days could explain.
The movie had an ageing Raj Kapoor and a young Rajshree as the lead pair. Ameeta, Mehmood, Pran, Raj Mehra, Achla Sachdev, Vishwa Mehra, Om Prakash, Pachhi etc were also in it. It was one of the earlier Hindi movies that were picturised mostly on foreign tourist locations. But while other such movies, viz “Love in Tokyo”(1966) and “And Evening in Paris”(1967) did well, “Around the world”(1967) failed at the box office. Incidentally, all the three movies had music by Shankar Jaikishan.
As many as six songs from “Around the world”(1967) have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from the movie. This song is sung by Sharda and Mubarak Begam. Shailendra is the lyricist.
The song is lip synced by Rajshree and Ameeta on various tourist spots while Raj Kapoor is also visible in the picturisation. It is a nice hummable song that would have become more popular had the movie succeeded at the box office.

Lyrics
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
pa jo liya hai gora rang
karte ho goron(?) ke dhang
pa jo liya hai gora rang
karte ho goron(?) ke dhang
pa jo liya hai gora rang
karte ho goron(?) ke dhang
chalte ho kaisi kaisi chaal
chalte ho kaisi kaisi chaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
hum to hain panchhi aazaad
honge na hum barbaad
hum to hain panchhi aazaad
honge na hum barbaad
hum to hain panchhi aazaad
honge na hum barbaad
machle shikaari daale jaal
machle shikaari daale jaal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
husn jo dekha
haal behaal
waah re waah mere baanke laal
ye munh aur masoor ki daal

Reminded me of Baarish (1957) song: yeh munh aur daal masoor ki, zara soorat to dekho huzoor ki.

Didn’t know till now that Paachi was the younger brother of Om Prakash. If I remember correctly, the film was heavily promoted in Radio Ceylon. Pity that SJ magic didn’t work for the film. Got the LP after some effort!!
