“Laal E Yaman” (1933) was the first movie of JBH Wadia that he produced under his banner of Wadia Movietone. The movie had Jaal Khambhata, Karim Jah, Feroz Dastoor, Master Mohammad, Sayani, Nazeer, B Khan, Baman Shroff, Padma, Mohini, Kamla, Mayuri, Miss Leela etc in it.
Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from “Laal e Yaman”(1933).
This is a very small clip barely one minute long. HFGK is silent about the details of this song. Shalin Bhatt, the uploader of this song on YT mentions Kamla as the singer, with Munshi Aashaq as the lyricist and Joseph David as the music director. Kamla’s name figures in the cast, so it can be assumed that the song is sung by Kamla and picturised on herself as well.
I have not been able to get a few words in the lyrics to my satisfaction. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections wherever applicable.
