Missing Films of 1960s – 15

This addition to the missing films of 1960s series is once again out of sequence. It brings us to 1965 today. And it brings a song for which the patience of the requestor is now running very low. So, another request from Arvinder ji for which he has been waiting for a long time. His reminders keep dropping into my mailbox. And I thought I better bring this song online, before the reminders start getting, well, serious.
What a lovely song, and so beautifully rendered by Suman Kalyanpur. Earlier, I was tempted to request Bharat ji to include this song in his ‘Sureeli Suman’ series. But then I thought about the homework assignment from Khyati Ben, and decided – number na kat jaayen, us se pehle let me post this in the missing films series.
‘Maharaja Vikram’ is an unheard and obscure film, about which much information is not available. The production banner is Rajroop Productions, and the film is directed by SN Tripathi. Ah yes, he is also the music director. This is one of the films he has directed. In his long career, SN Tripathi has directed eighteen films, almost all of them belonging to the historical and religious genres. I request knowledgeable friends and readers to please add more information about the film and this song.
This film, released in 1965, is about the renowned King Vikramaditya of Ujjain. The cast of actors includes Mahipal, Anita Guha, Bela Bose, Laxmi Chhaaya, Sadhna Khote, BM Vyas, Sunder, Tuntun Madhu Malti, and Sri Bhagwan etc. The film has 10 songs, all from the pen of songwriter BD Misra.
What an enchanting melody, and what a lovely memory from the radio listening days. It simply cannot be better – thanks Arvinder ji, for your persistent reminders. 🙂

I had earlier came across one song from this film sung by Rafi Saab – ‘aadmi nirbal samay balwaan hai’ – and had shared the same to Atul ji on 31.03.2013.

Aap Suman-ji ke filmy gaane post karte raho main unke NFS present karta rahunga. Frankly mere pas Sumanji ke Filmy gaane bahot hi kam hai aur NFS khajana kafi bada hai. Is arrangement se dono type ke listeners khush rahenge.
