“Toofaani Toli” aka Reckless Rogues was directed by Jayant Desai for Ranjit Movietone, Bombay. The movie had Madhuri, E Bilimoria, Ishwarlal, Dixit, Ghori, Bhupat Rai, Ram Apte, Anees Khatoon, Kalyani, Waheedan Bai, Kantilal, Shahjahaan etc in it.

The movie had ten songs in it. Going by the names of the singers, is appears that all the songs were sung by actors themselves who sang them on screen.

Here is the first song from “Toofaani Toli”(1937) to appear in the blog. Only a portion of the song is available. According to HFGK, it is sung by Aneed Khatoon and Ghori. In the two minutes long part of the song that is available, we only get to listen to the female voice. Only two words uttered by Ghori are audible. The song gets cut abruptly just when Ghori begins to sing.

Unless we get a longer version of this song, this is all that we have as far as this song is concerned. It is clear that the song was picturised on Anees Khatoon and Ghori themselves. P L Santoshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt who made his debut as a music director in Hindi movies with this movie.

I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections wherever applicable in the lyrics.

? I think ‘sada’ should be ‘saza’.
