When one looks at the sources of stories of Indian movies, one realises that Indian mythological and historical tales have been one of the largest sources of stories.
In addition, mythological/ historical/ fairy tales of adjacent places have also served as sources of stories. For instance, good number of Indian movies are inspired from various Arabian nights tales.
If one looks farther, one finds that European mythological/ historical/ fairy tales have also been used in Indian movies.
Literature of Willaim Shakespeare (April 1564- 23 april 1616) is one of the maljor sources of stories for movies all over the world, including Indian movies. All separated at birth double role movies, mistaken identity movies, that have served as staple diets of Hindi movies over the decades have been inspired from tales penned by Shakespeare.
“Comedy of Errors”, which was written by Shakespeare around 1594 has served as the inspiration for at least two Hindi movies. One of them is “Do Dooni Chaar”(1968) and another is “Angoor”(1982).
Today (23 april 2016) is the 400th death anniversary of Shakespeare. On this occasion, here is a song from “Do Dooni Chaar”(1968). This song is sung by Raanu Mukherji, who had sung the famous “Maasoom”(1960) song Naani teri morni ko mor le gaye (Maasoom) as a child artist.
Gulzar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar, father of Raanu Mukherji.
The song is picturised as a grown up lullaby song on Tanuja who lip syncs this song in a bid to put Kishore Kumar to sleep.
I have not been able to note down the lyrics fully to my satisfaction. I request our readers with keener ears to suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.

Song-Nindiya maami aa jaao (Do Dooni Chaar)(1968) Singer-Raanu Mukherji, Lyrics-Gulzar, MD-Hemant Kumar
Lyrics
nindiya maami aa jaao o
nindiya maami aa jaao
chanda maama so rahe hain
chanda maama so rahe hain
maami tum chali aao o
nindiya maami aa jaao o
nindiya maami aa jaao
saare jag se chhutti le kar
jaldi aana nindiyaa
is shaitaan ki aankhon mein
ek baar mein laana nindiya
saare jag se chhutti le kar
jaldi aana nindiya
is shaitaan ki aankhon mein
ek baar mein laana nindiya
jaage taare jaagne do
jaage taare jaagne do
tum chhup chhup chali aao
nindiya maami aa jaao
nindiya maami aa jaao
kaajal daal ke sapnon ka aankhon ke button lagaao
in masum si aankhon ko pariyon ke saath sulaao
kaajal daal ke sapnon ka
aankhon ke button lagaao
in maasoom si aankhon ko pariyon ke saath sulaao
raaja mera laadla hai
raaja mera laadla hai
tum jaldi chali aao
nindiya maami aa jaao o
nindiya maami aa jaao
chanda maama so rahe hain
chanda maama so rahe hain
maami tum chali aao
nindiya maami aa jaao o
nindiya maami aa jaao

I think there may be some changes as suggested below;
chaand taare jaagne do (jaage taare instead of chand taare)
jaage taare jaagne do
aaja mera laadla hai (raaja instead of aaja)
aaja mera laadla hai (raaja instead of aaja)

Generally it is chandamama. Hats off to Gulzar for using nindiyamami as a symbolism for nindiya. However I feel it could have been much better if he had used chandamami instead of nindiyamami. Whatsay?
