Music Director Shyam Sharma, a regular employee with HMV (later on, RPG) had in 1970 recorded an Album named “Swar Bahar” that had ten melodious devotional songs by Suman Kalyanpur. Six out of these ten have now been covered in this wonderful singing Blog. This one is the seventh jewel from that Album.
Shyam Sharma had several Hindi as well as Sindhi Albums to his credit. One of this called ‘Sukun’ had 11 Talat Mehmood’s Geet and Ghazals. Mohammad Rafi had also sung a few Non-Film Bhajans and Geet set composed by Shyam Sharma.
The song under discussion is full of pathos. It is written by Anjaan who describes the pangs of a ‘veirahini’ and the simple words are presented by our sureeli Suman with her sweet voice, doing full justice to the required heart touching ‘ dard’. Members who are not tuned to songs full of pathos, will have to bear with me for three more forth-coming songs from this Album. 🙂
