“Anjangarh”(1948) was directed by Bimal Roy for New Theatres, Calcutta. This movie had Bipin Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Hiralal, Sunanda Devi, Rama Indu, Parulkar, Bhupendra Kapoor, Tulsi Chakraborty, Asit Sen, Jahar Roy etc in it.
This movie, one of the lesser known movies of New Theatres, had six songs in it that have ended up becoming as obscure as the movie itself.
Here is the first song from “Anjangarh”(1948) to appear in the blog. This song, which appears to be a prayer, is sung by Pankaj Mullick and Utpala Sen. Pt Bhushan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pankaj Mullick.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowldgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
PS-Though HFGK mentions R C Boral as the music director for all songs, but Mr Sunil Trivedi, whose was quite close to Pankaj Mullick, points out that Pankaj Mullick had composed all songs that he sang for himself, including the two songs of this movie. So we need to update our statistics of songs where Pankaj Mullick sang in movies having other music directors.

In my High School days I used to sing this melodious Bhajan. Thanks for bringing the old memory.

This is a mail from shri Sunil Trivedi ji of Gujarat. He and his family was very close to Pankaj Malick. Pankaj da used to stay with them often, when on Gujarat visit.

Though he was MD for entire movie but not for 2 songs of Pankaj Mullick this + Aye julm ki janjir se jakade hue quaidee. Both songs WERE COMPOSED BY PANKAJDA HIMSELF. PANKAJDA HAS NEVER SANG SOMEONE’s COMPOSITIONS incl Hindi song of Bangla movie Monihar sung by Pankajda,music was by Pankajda and not movie MD Hemantkumar.
