Today 29th December 2016 is the 74th birth anniversary of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.1942-18.07.2012).
Though this is the third post in this series, it actually is not in continuation of my earlier two posts but a ‘separate post’ in remembrance of the Superstar on his 74th birth anniversary.
So, when I was looking for the songs that could be shared on this occasion, there were lot of songs to choose from. However I was specifically looking for a song composed by R.D.Burman. I finally selected this song from ‘Chalta Purza-1977’ which was lying ready with us since almost four years now.
1977 saw as many as eight Rajesh Khanna movies (excluding ‘Tyaag’) getting released viz;

Some sources (including wiki) mentioned ‘Tyaag’ as a 1977 movie, whereas it was passed by the Censor Board on 29.07.1976. I am not aware if it was released in 1977.
These sources also mentioned ‘Aaina-1974’ as a movie of 1977 which as per HFGK was passed by Censor Board on 30.11.1974.
Out of the above movies I think only ‘Chhaila Babu’ was a successful movie to an extent and rest all other movies were ‘flop’.
I remember watching ‘Tyaag’ and ‘Chhaila Babu’ in my childhood, whereas I bought the VCDs of ‘Karm’ seven-eight years back, and I watched ‘Anurodh’ this year in February on DVD.
I liked ‘Karm’ and ‘Anurodh’, and songs of ‘Chhaila Babu’ are there in my memory since years now.
Today’s song is from the movie ‘Chalta Purza-1977’.
It was produced and directed by Bhappi Sonie for his home productions.
This movie had Rajesh Khanna, Parveen Babi, Rakesh Roshan, Ajit, Ranjeet, Asrani, Purnima, Baby Chintu, Sonia Sahni, Sudhir, Manmohan, V.Gopal, Leena Disuza, Kirti Kumar, Kuljit, Dhoomal, Aparna Chaudhary, Madan Keni, Bramha Bharadwaj, Shyam Kumar, Mumtaz Begam, Lalita Kumari, Manorama, Habib, Keshav Rana, Madhup Sharma, Kamal, Kamaldeep, Dilip Dutt, Jankidas and others. Bindu makes a special appearance in this movie, while Murad, Raj Mehra, Komila Virk, Keti Mirza and Dev Kumar make a guest appearance in this movie.
Story and Screenplay of this movie was written by Sachin Bhaumick and dialogues were written by Kader Khan. Editing for this movie was done by M.S.Shinde.
There were four songs in this movie composed by R.D.Burman and written by Anand Bakshi. Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Sushma Shreshtha gave their voices to the songs in this movie. One song from this movie has been posted on the blog earlier, almost four years back in February 2013.
Here is the second song from this movie sung by Kishore Kumar and Sushma Shreshtha.
The picturization of this song shows Rajesh Khanna, Baby Chintu and Parveen Babi where Rajesh Khanna is trying to cheer-up the upset Baby Chintu (and Parveen Babi too) and requesting them to come back to home 🙂
(Since it is mentioned in the titles of the movies I can guess that this song is picturized around the ‘Bhakra-Beas Link Location’)
I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.
