“Zindagi Ya Toofaan”(1958) was directed by Nakshab for Seraphim Pictures, Bombay. the movie had Nutan, Pradeep Kumar, Johny Walker, Minu Mumtaz, Yakoob, Om Prakash etc in it.
There were ten songs in this movie. Five of these songs have been discussed in the past.
Today (3 january 2016) is the 36th death anniversary of Naashaad (11 july 1923- 3 january 1981). On this occasion, here is a song from “Zindagi Ya Toofaan”(1958) as a tribute to Naashaad.
This song is a duet which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Sudha Malhotra. Nakshab is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naashaad.
Though video of several songs of this movie are available, video of this song is not available. For that matter even the audio of this song was not available on YT.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
PS- Wikipedia mentions death of anniversary of Nashaad as 14 january instead of 3 january 1981, and lots of online sites, groups etc use that date. I double checked with Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyvlopaedia. He informed me that Listeners’ Bulleatin No 44 of February 1981 mentions 3 january 1981 as the date. The same date is mentioned in Pankaj Raag’s book “Dhunon ki Yaatra”. Mr Harish Raghuwanshi, a highly respected and renowned fil historian and a regular of this blog also confirms this date. What is more, SLBC also takes this date as the death anniversary.
In view of all these authentic sources that predate wikipedia, it is clear that 3 january 1981 is the accurate date of demise of Nashaad and it is unfortunate that wikipedia carries an incorrect date which is faithfully being utilised by many online musical groups.
