“Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) was inspired from Eric Segal’s immortal novel “Love Story”.
Majority of movie watchers including me, who watched “Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) did not know about the source of inspiration of the movie. The movie was a bo office hit. People wathing the movie liked it for its story and for its music. My own feeling is that the music of this movie may have played the bigger role in ensuring that the movie was a money spinner for Rajshree Productions, the makers of this movie.
The movie had five songs according to HFGK. Some other sources count the titke song as two or three separate songs and thus arrive at the figure of seven songs, but I will go by HFGK. Out of five songs from the movie, four have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth and final song from “Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) to appear in the blog.
Like the other songs from the movie, this song too is a heartwarming song to listen to. It is sung by Hemlata and Shailendra Singh and it is picturised on the lead pair of Ranjeeta and Sachin. In this song, they compare notes about what they will do and where they would be after they grew up. A very natural curiosity and this leads to some gentle teasing and leg pulling as well.
It was one of several movies that I had watched while bunking my afternoon practical class. I must say that I too was wondering what I would be dong in future if I watched movies instead of concentrating on my classes. Fortunately I survived (only just about) to tell the tale. 🙂
Ravindra Jain is the lyricist as well as the music director of this song. To my mind, Ravindra Jain’s lyrics and music was the major reason for the bo office success of this movie.
With this song, “Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”(1978) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics
ek din
tum bahut bade banoge ek din
chaand se chamak uthhoge ek din
will you forget me then
how I can
tell me how I can
ek din
tum bahut bade banoge ek din
chaand se chamak uthhoge ek din
will you forget me then
how I can
tell me how I can
maan lo kahin ki shahzaadi
baithi ho tumhaare liye aankhen bichhaaye
aur usey ye zid ho ki wo shaadi
kisi se naa karegi
tumhaare sivaaye
will you forget me then
yes I can
if only you can
ek din
le gayaa tumhen jo koi ajnabi
gair ki jo ho gayi ye zindagi
will you forget me then
gentleman
oh no gentleman
saans saans mein tumhaari khushboo
kis tarah jiyungaa bolo tumko bhulaa ke
dil pe jaan pe kar chuki ho jaadoo
jaanti ho poochhati ho phir bhi sataa ke
will you forget me then
gentleman
sorry gentleman
laa laa laa
lalalalalalalala
lalalalaalalalalala
lalalalalalala
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

“Will You Forget Me Then” a cross-line which i used to love back then. And the reply “Gentleman Oh no Gentleman” too cute.
If I am not wrong the college scenes were shot on the campus of Mumbai’s Bhavan’s College in Andheri. I think Khyatiben or Guruji will also be identify the location of the song.
Lets YYIIPPEEEE!!! to Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se
