“Dharm Patni”(1953) was directed by Ramchandra Thakur for Harishchandra Pictures, Bombay. This movie had Mahipal, Nirupa Roy, Moti sagar, Durga Khote, Yashodhara Katju, Niru, Mona, Kumar, Gope, Bhagwandas, Dalpat, Eruch Tarapore, hameed, Dewaskar, Maqbool, Deepak Nayudu, Parvati Bai, anwari, Vijaybala, Dewan etc in it.
This “social” movie had six songs in it.
Here is the first song from “Dharm Patni”(1953) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Jamal Sen.
I am unable to identify the lady who lip syncs this song while seated at the grand piano. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her. Audio quality of the video link is poor. One needs to listen to the audio version of the song to derive full pleasure out of this rare song from this forgotten movie.
I may have erred at a few places while noting down the lyrics of the song. I request our readers with keener ears to suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.

I think it is not Yashodhara Khatju, I have seen her in elderly roles IN Do Phool(Mehmood`s), Hare rama Hare krishna

What a coincidence that discussing rare songs from rare movies with few of my friends of similar feathers, on last Saturday, I played Mubarak Begum song ‘Raat kaise kati bataa na sake’ from this film ‘Dharam Patni’.
