“Mahatma”(1953) was produced and directed by Datta Dharmadhikari for Alhad Chitra, Bombay. This movie had Gajanan Jageerdaar, David, Rekha, Manmohan, Raja Nene, Ramkumar, Raja Gosavi, V D pandit, Bhandarkar, Baby Kala etc in it.
This by now forgotten movie had six songs in it. Here is the second song from “Mahatma”(1953) to appear in the blog. The singer of this song is not known. My guess is that the actor himself is singing the song. Ehsan Rizvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vasant Pawar and Ram Wadhavkar.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on identity of the singer and actor of this song.

Atul ji,
Film Mahatma was made in Hindi, Marathi and English at the same time. However,it flopped so badly that its producer/director Datta Dharmadhikari was financially destroyed. He had to sell everything and his wife coocked tiffins for people. He, however, came out of it successfully and continued his career. After his death in 1982, his son Alhad carried forward his legacy.
The above song was sung by Master Avinash, a Marathi stage actor and singer. This song, however was not included in the film and was removed before its release.
This information is given by Film Historian and a writer in Marathi Isak Mujawar, in his book.
