Today (31 january 2017) is the 13th death anniversary of Suraiyya (15 June 1929 – 31 January 2004). Regulars of this blog are aware that almost all available songs of Suraiyya have already been discussed in the blog. We are now scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as remaining Suraiyya songs are concerned. The remaining Suraiyya songs are rare and obscure songs and we have decided to discuss them only on the occasions of Suraiyya’s anniversaries, at the rate on one song per anniversary. That way, we may still have songs to take care of next three or four years at least.
One of the Suraiyya songs that has not been discussed so far is from “Shokhiyaan”(1951).
“Shokhiyaan” (1951) was produced and directed by Kidar Sharma under the banner of Ambitious Pictures. The star cast included Premnath, Suraiya, Jeewan, Kamlesh Kumari, Nazira, Shanta Kanwar, Achala Sachdev, Ramesh Sinha etc.
Seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. This song is the eighth and final song from the movie.
This rare song is a sweet song sung by Suraiyya. Kidar Sharma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Jamal Sen.
With this song, “Shokhiyaan”(1951) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
