“Chunariya”(1948) was directed by Ravindra Dave for Kuldip Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Pran, Manorama, Cuckoo, Wasti, Chand Burque, Randhir, Sofia, Ramesh, Sarita, Baij Sharma etc in it.
This movie had ten songs in it. Five of these songs have been covered in the blog.
Here is the sixth song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt (then Roy). Mulkraj Bhakri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
“Chunariya”(1948) may be an obscure movie, but its music has some historical value. For once, it was in this movie that Asha Bhonsle got her first opportunity to give playback singing. That song, “saawan aaya”, is not yet covered in the blog.
