“Bansariya” (1949) was a social ‘Nigaristaan Films Production’ movie. It was directed by Ram Narayan Dave. The movie had the star-cast consisting of, Geeta Bali, Ram Singh, Om Prakash, Randhir, Kuldip, Sofia, Gulab, Uma Dutt, Shanti Madhok, Ramesh Thakur, Raj Pal, Sham Lal, Madan Kapur, Raja Salim, Ram Avtar etc in it.
Mulkraj Bhakri was the lyricist. Music was composed by the dual Music Director brothers, Husnlal and Bhagatram.
As per HFGK, there were 8 songs in this film; 4 are Lata ji solos, 2 are solos by Geeta Roy, one solo by Rafi Sb and one solo by S D Batish. Since this series is dedicated to Lata’s songs that are not yet covered in our marvellous musical Blog, this will be the second song out of her four Lata solos in the film. Be in lookout for two more beautiful Lata songs, which I propose to present here, Hari Ichchha permitting.
Looking at the star-cast of the film, we can safely say that Geeta Bali must have acted and lip-synced for this pathos filled philosophical song. There is a distinct Husnalal-Bhagatram stamp on the typical orchestration, which will strike to everyone, who is familiar with their music.
