“Birhan”(1948) was directed by Kailash Bhandari for National Film Producers, Bombay. The movie had Roopa, Pran, Begam Parveen, Gul Zamaan, Ram Lal, Zaheer, Nafees Begam, Krishna Rane, Cuckkoo etc in it.
The movie had twelve songs in it that were penned by two lyricists vz. Bekal and Sarshar Sailaani but the distribution of songs among the two is not known.
One song from the movie has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Birhan”(1948) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Dilshad Begam. Lyricist is not known, as mentioned above. Music is composed by Pt Lachchiram.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
[Ed Note: Dear Sadanand ji, the uploader of this song, has informed that the earlier version that was uploaded was erroneous and incomplete, in that only two stanzas of this song were included, and the third stanza was just a cut-paste of the first stanza. Now he has refreshed the upload with the correct version having all the three stanzas. The lyrics section has been suitably updated to reflect this change.]
Song-Mere dard e dil ki duniya mein… main wo bekas hoon (Birhan)(1948) Singer-Dilshad Begam, MD-Pt Lachchiram
Lyrics
mere dard-e-dil ki duniya mein dawa koi nahin
mere dard-e-dil ki duniya mein dawa koi nahin
main wo bekas hoon ke jiska aasra koi nahin
saari duniya chhod kar
maine diya thha dil tujhe
saari duniya chhod kar
maine diya thha dil tujhe
bewafa iske siwa meri khata koi nahin
main wo bekas hoon ke jiska aasra koi nahin
tu jo mere paas thha
to sab zamaana thha mera
tu jo mere paas thha
to sab zamaana thha mera
ab zamaane mein mera tere siwa koi nahin
main wo bekas hoon ke jiska aasra koi nahin
kar chuki shiqwe giley
bigdi hui taqdeer se
kar chuki shiqwe giley
bigdi hui taqdeer se
ab meri taqdeer se mera gila koi nahin
main wo bekas hoon ke jiska aasra koi nahin

Dear All,
Sadanand ji,had informed in his previous comment that the earlier version that was uploaded was erroneous and incomplete, in that only two stanzas of this song were included, and the third stanza was just a cut-paste of the first stanza. Now he has refreshed the upload with the correct version having all the three stanzas. The lyrics section has been suitably updated to reflect this change.

Atul ji,
This is the second song from the film. the first song already posted is
And what a co-incidence! I wanted to present this song from the film making a debut in the Blog. But I had mp3 clip of the song having only 2 antaras with fade out music at the end. I was not sure whether the sonng ends abruptly or mp3 did not contain full song. So I selected the other song as mentioned above.
When the song’s video which you have posted appeared for the first time on YT, I listened to the video and felt that the uploader had made video to look like a full song by cutting and pasting the first antara as the third antara followed by the same fade out music at the end as that of second antara. Listened to a jump after the end of third anatara and before the refrains at 2:37.

After posting I realised that this was the second song from the movie. I have made correction accordingly.
