“Faisla”(1947) was a “social” movie directed by Apoorv Mitra for Geetanjali Movietone, Calcutta. Then movie had Kanan Devi, Paresh Bannerji, Hiralal, Nigam, Azurie, Flora, Gokul Mukherji, Devkumari, Puttan etc in it.
The movie had nine songs in it that were composed by two music directors. Seven songs were composed by Anupam Ghatak and two by Kamal Dasgupta. Names of singers are provided only for three songs in HFGK.
Here is the first song from “Faisla”(1947) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Kalyani Das. Pran is the lyricist. Music is composed by Anupam Ghatak.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Atul ji,
The voice does not appear to be that of Kalyani Das. I also compared the voice of Kalyani Das in her duet with Hemant Kumar ‘maine pehchaan liya tumne pukaara hai mujhe’ from the same film. I do not find similarity of the voice in the song under discussion with that of Kalyani Das.
The last part of the song under discussion in which the singer sings in a higher pitch, the voice closely resembles that of Kanan Devi to me.
I checked on the various sources on the internet including the google discussion groups but drew blank on the singer. At last, I checked on http://www.kanandevi.com/discography.php, the website of Dr. Jyoti Prakash Guha. According to the list provided therein, Kanan Devi had sung 4 songs for the film ‘Faisla’ (1947) including the song under discussion. He has also given the Megaphone record Nos. for these 4 songs.
