“Patangaa”(1971) was directed by Kedar Kapoor for K R Films, Bombay. This “social” movie had Shashi Kapoor, Vimi, Ajit, Rajendranath, Sajjan, Wasti, Ashok Kumar, Laxmmi Chhaaya, Zeb Rahman, Jagdish Raj, Rammohan, Leela Mishra, Praveen Pal, Geeta, amina Bai, Ram Avtar, Shekhar Purohit, Prem, Shiv Chandar, Ravindra Kumar, Harun, Lal, Nasir, Balram, Santosh, Rajkumar etc in it.
The movie had eight songs in it. Seven songs have been covered in the past. Here are the details of these seven songs:-

Here is the eighth and final song from “Patanga”(1971). This song is sung by Rafi. Neeraj is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
The song is picturised on Shashi Kapoor, playing a kotha going “barbaad insaan” who is lip syncing this song while Laxmi Chhaya performs the mujra. One is reminded of a similar song viz Jhanak jhanak tori baaje paayaliya(Mere Huzoor) which was also a Shamkar Jaikishan composition. But unlike that immortal song, this song fails to leave much of an impression. I had not heard this “Patanga”(1971) song before whic means that the song had failed to become popular during its time.
