I was aware of the movie ‘Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani-1957’ mainly associating it with its song ‘raat ne kya kya khwaab dikhaaye’ sung by Talat Mahmood. However, during the tagging of this movie for ‘Yippeeeee Project’ I came across a vinyl cover of a movie having same title with Rakesh Pandey featuring on its cover. That was more than a hint for me that this could be of a movie from the ‘seventies. When I checked it in HFGK Vol-V, I found this movie made in the year of ‘1975’. (I may have read the movie name earlier in the ‘Geet-Kosh’ but may had forgotten about it).
Today ‘Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani-1975’ get introduced on the blog to join ‘Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani’ of ‘1957’. And that serves our mission of bringing movies with same titles on the blog.
‘Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani-1975’ was directed by S.S. Balan for ‘Gemini Pictures Circuit Pvt Ltd, Madras’. S.S. Balan was also the producer of this movie. M.S. Vishwanath was the co-director of this movie and Kittapaa and Rangan were the assistant directors for this movie.
The movie was based on an original ‘Kannada’ screen play written and directed by Siddalingayya. It had Rakesh Pandey, Jeevan, Jayshree Gadkar, Neerja, Baby Rama, Nazeer Hussain, Bhagwan, Mohan Choti, C.D. Dubey, Bramchari, V. Gopal, Birbal, Ram Avtar, Bihari, Sharif Romani, Ishwarlal, Raghva, Master Raju, and introducing Lokesh and Manjula.
Story of this movie was written by Gorur Ramswami Ayyiyangar and dialogues were written by Vishwanath. diting of this movie was done by M. Umanath with M. Mani as his assistant.
This movie had five songs written by Indeewar and composed to music by Ravindra Jain.

Asha Bhonsle, Jaspal Singh, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Mohd Rafi and Usha Mangeshkar had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 19.04.1975.
(I have not watched this movie but whatever visuals I have watched during the preparation of this post it seems that the movie was shot on beautiful locations of Karnataka and as acknowledged in the titles the places are Village – Kalasapura, Kelagur Coffee & Tea Estates etc. (Knowledgeable readers who have watched this movie can throw more light on this)).
Today we are going to listen a song from this movie sung by Mohd Rafi. The lyrics by Indeewar are worth paying heed to and it carries a message relevant for all times (I think so).
However, it seems that this song was not included in the movie, except for the first few lines (I guess that maybe it was censored? because of the straight forward lyrics).
The movie is available online and though I had not watched this movie I was looking for when this song happens in the movie. There is a scene in this movie where the rival groups of the village – one led by Rakesh Pandey and other (I think) by Lokesh – are shown coming out of the court premises where the song starts but after the first four lines only the music keeps playing and not the verses. This is the only solo song in this movie and all other are duet songs.
