Yearwise discussion of Lata Mangeshkar songs in HFM: Part XXX: Year 1976

In this episode, we discuss Lata Mangeshkar songs that she sang in Hindi movies released in 1976.
In 1976, 104 Hindi movies containing 554 songs were released. Lata Mangeshkar got to sing in 41 of these movies and she sang 97 songs in these movies. So Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was heard in 39.4 % of the movies released in 1976. Her voice was heard in 17.5 % of the songs appearing in the movies of 1976.

Lata Mangeshkar worked with 14 music directors and 16 lyricists in these 41 movies released in 1976. Shankar Jaikishan with 443 songs in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar were the leading music directors for her followed by Laxmikant Pyarelal with 437 songs. C Ramchandra was in third position with 274 songs. Other top music directors for Lata Mangeshkar were Kalyanji Anandji (261), Chitragupta (238), Madan Mohan (192), S D Burman (179), R D Burman (171), Roshan (144), Naushad (136), Hemant Kumar (127), Anil Biswas (120), Husnlal Bhagatram (108), Vasant Desai (104) and Salil Chaudhary (104). Together these fifteen music directors composed 3038 songs out of 4089 songs that Lata Mangeshkar had sung in Hindi movies till end of 1976. The top nine lyricists till end of 1975 for Lata Mangeshkar were Rajinder Krishan (543),Anand Bakshi (419), Shailendra (361), Majrooh Sultanpuri (334), Hasrat Jaipuri (295), Prem Dhawan (201), Shakeel Badayuni (189), Bharat Vyas (189) and Sahir Ludhianvi (141). These nine lyricists had penned 2672 songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar till that time.
Lata Mangeshkar collaborated with music directors Basu Manohari Lahiri and Govind Naresh for the first time in movies of this year. Lyricists Amit Khanna and Kulwant Jani got to collaborate with Lata Mangeshkar for the first time in movies released this year.

Alphabetically “Aaj Ka Mahatma”(1976)is the first movie of 1976 that offers us Lata Mangeshkar songs.
“Aaj Ka Mahatma”(1976) was produced and directed by Kundan Kumar for Kundan Films, Bombay. The movie had Randhir Kapoor, Rekha, Ranjeet, Bindu, Manmohan, Manmohan Krishna, Kumud Chugaani, Purnima, Shetty, Keshav Rana, Abhimanyu Sharma, Keshto Mukherjee etc, with friendly appearances by Sanjana, Dilip Dutt, Manorama, Rajan Haksar, Jeevan. The movie also had Anand Joshi, Kirti Kumar, Rajan Kapoor, Narbada Shankar, A.N.Malhotra, Bhagwan Sinha, Deepak, R.Yadav, Dijendra Banerjee, Ramesh Deo etc in it.
The movie had four songs in it. One song has been covered in the past.
The movie had two Lata Mangeshkar solo songs in it. The one song from the movie that has been covered was a Lata Mangeshkar solo.
Here is the second Lata Mangeshkar solo song from “Aaj Ka Mahatma”(1976). The song is penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

My hats off to you for the excellent analysis and details of Lata songs from 1946 to 1976. I know how much time and efforts must have gone into collecting and presenting this information.
Only a dedicated person can do such work.
Thanks a million for this.
I have not come across any other such attempt anywhere on the Internet.

Thanks for your appreciation. Yes, it is a back breaking exercise. My entire sunday gets used up for collecting details for this post to be published on monday.
I have been doing it for thirty weeks, without fail, and now I have collected some very interesting details about the Lata Mangeshkar songs till now.

Corrections in the table regarding movie Bhanwar,
the 2 duet songs of Lata Mangeshkar(Aankhein milaayenge and Karo baathe -2 duets with Kishore) have been already covered,
so it is 2/2 =0 regarding Bhanwar
