Hullo atuldom
Wishing the Dream Girl of the 1970s, 1980s,1990s a very happy birthday. She is still so dainty, graceful & I shall not use the cliché word “Beautiful”- there is no debate about that.
She has been a favourite of the public through her career – a personal favorite ever since I saw her singing “zindagi ek safar” to her tiny son. Her Geeta in “Seeta aur Geeta” just entrenched her in my head. She followed it up with ‘Basanti’ & my love for her has never dried up.
My tryst with Bollywood began with The Dream Girl and then the other beauties of the industry got added to my file of favourites; but Dream Girl is Dream girl- no two ways about that.
16th October is the date for which I make an attempt to write a post. And I have the usual dilemma- too many options to choose from. My general habit- I try to find anything connected with the debut of the artist. Our Dream Girl is a producer/director in addition to being a classical dancer & actress. Actually it is the other way round- she was first a dancer, then an actress then she turned a producer / director.
She was the unofficial producer of “Sharara”(1984) – almost her debut as producer. R. J. Chakravarti (her brother) was the producer & S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu (I think he was associated with telugu and/or Kannada films) was the director. The songs of the film were written by Anand Bakshi & Laxmikant- Pyarelal used only 3 singers Asha Bhonsle Lata Mangeshkar & Suresh Wadkar.
This was a production for which she is said to have first approached Dharmendra for playing the lead (as quoted in magazines of those times) but ended up having Raaj Kumar (8th October 1926- 3rd July 1996) playing the central character of Dharam Veer Singh Pathan. Shatrughan Sinha, Tina Munim, Kadar Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Ranjeet, Tom Alter, Bob Christo, Asrani, Ramesh Deo, Dina Pathak, Kalpana Iyer, were the other actors in the film. Vijendra Ghatge, Mithun Chakravarti were in guest appearances. The film had an armed forces & espionage based story.
Our Dream Girl (do I need to mention who I am referring to) played a double role of Chandni (Champavati) & Madhu.
The film was given an “A” certificate at the time of its release, hence I was not allowed to see it but there was a Lata Mangeshkar solo which was a party song that was heard often on the Radio, I may have seen it only once in my life. I think it is a multi-part song.
Presenting a song from “Sharara” (1984) in the voice of a “nightingale” on our “Dream Girl”. Wishing Hema Malini all health & happiness with friends & family.

shabnam ka ye qatra hai
yaad ka ik sharaara
shabnam ka ye qatra hai
yaad ka ik sharaara
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko

sau raaton ke baad sahi
ik chaand(?) ki raat to hogi
sau raaton ke baad sahi
ik chaand(?) ki raat to hogi
is chaahat mein aakhir koi
aisi baat to hogi
ho o o o o gi
jiski khaatir kar dete hain log marna gawaara
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko
ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye qatra hai
pyaar mohabbat na ho
to na ho koi bhi kahaani
pyaar mohabbat na ho
to na ho koi bhi kahaani
patjhad mein man tarse
na barse saawan mein paani ee
ye jannat ka phool hai koi
ya baadal aawaara
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko
ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye katra hai
laalaalalaalaalaalaa
laalaalalaalaalaalaa
lalalalala
laalaalalalalaa
ik nasha ban kar rehta hai
khaali paimaanon mein
ik nasha ban kar rehta hai
khaali paimaanon mein
mast hawaa ban kar chalta hai
dil ke veeraanon mein aen
dil ke veeraanon mein aen
mere honthhon par aaya hai
ban kar naam tumhaaraa
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye katra hai yaad ka ik sharaara
sharaaraa
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye katra hai
yaad ka ik sharaara aa
pyar mohabbat kehta hai jisko
ye zamaana saara

pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye qatra hai
shaque ek begaana hota hai apnon ki mehfil mein
aankhon mein kya dhoond rahe ho
jhaanko mere dil mein
dil mein
aankhen hain do chamkeele patthar
dil hai ek sitaara
pyar mohabbat kehta hai jisko ye zamaana saara
shabnam ka ye qatra hai yaad ka ek sharaara
pyaar mohabbat kehta hai jisko ye zamaana saara
ye zamaana saara
ye zamaana saara
ye zamaana saara
