Today’s song is from an obscure movie ‘Sandli-1985/1986’. I have no recollections of having read or being aware about a movie with this title. It was only because of HFGK Vol-VI (1981-1985) that I became aware of this movie. The name of singer Bhupinder Singh in the singer’s list for this movie piqued my interest to look for information and songs from this movie. However, it seems that no video of this movie is available and except one source (Bhupinder Singh topic & Myswar) I do not find the song links of this movie anywhere.
“Sandli-1985/1986” was directed by Dr Surjeet Singh Sethi for ‘P.N.A. Theater & Movie Workshop, Bombay’. It was produced by P.J. Singh. As per HFGK Vol-VI this movie was passed by Censor Board initially on 15.05.1985 and it was re-certified by the Censor Board on 31.03.1986. That is why the year of the movie mentioned here as ‘1985/1986’.
The cast of this movie included Lisa Singh (debutant & in title role), S. Paul, Arun, Yash Sharma, Preetam, B.S. Badal, Sucheta, Sukhbir Kaur, Kewal Pahwa, Ashok Hans, Jayshree, Ghulam Sabir, M. Shamim, Jang Bahadur, Tarsem Kumar, Vinod Sood, Dharamveer Nagra, Gurcharan, Satinder, Samrat, Arvind, Surinderjeet, Pushpraj, Subhash Bhatia, Jagmohan, Dr Surjeet Singh Sethi, Kuldeep Bhatia, Nivedita, Davinder Sharma, Gurdiyal Pallah, Ravneet Kaur, Ambar Aroda, Lakhbir Randhawa, Sanjeev, Balbir Bolina, Kanwaljeet and others.
Dr Surjeet Singh Sethi the director of this movie also wrote the story-screenplay and dialogues of this movie. He is also the lyricist for all the six songs (including one two part song i.e. today’s) in this movie. Music for this movie is composed by S. Mohinder. The singers for the songs of this movie are Dilraj Kaur, Jaspal Singh, Minoo Purushottam and Bhupinder Singh.
Today’s song is in two parts and it is in the voices of Bhupinder Singh and Dilraj Kaur.
