The song in this post is a song from a recent movie by the standards of this blog. It is from the year ‘1981’ and the title of the movie it is ‘Sant Gyaaneshwar’. I doubt how many of us remember that there was a movie with this title in the year 1981. As for me, I have never heard or read about this movie of 1981. On the other hand it is the movie ‘Sant Gyaaneshwar’ of 1964 that I am aware of from my childhood days. I remember this movie title because of its memorable songs. My guess is that this movie 1981 with the same title ended up becoming a forgotten movie immediately after its release. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 03.03.1981.
‘Sant Gyaaneshwar-1981’ was directed by S.N. Tripathi who was also the writer of this movie. It was produced by S.V. Iyer. The banner for this movie is ‘Geetmaalaa Pictures, Bombay’. It is clear from the title of this movie that it was a evotional movie. The cast of this movie has Mahesh Kothare (the well-known Marathi actor, producer and director), Usha Solanki, Madan Puri, Dev Kumar, Rakesh Pande, Bharat Bhooshan, Sudhir Dalvi, S.N. Tripathi, Chand Usmani, Meena T., B. M. Vyas, Mohan Choti, Raj Kumar, Kartik, Master Bittoo, Master Rajesh, Master Ravi, Baby Vashila, Baby Shajida, Ratan Gaurang, Manmouji, Hitler, Krishna, Kamal Mishra, Gorakh, Ramesh Deewan, Purushottam, S.K. Banjara, Kaka Sharma and others. Kanan Kaushal (‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ fame) had a special appearance in this movie.
‘Sant Gyaaneshwar-1981’ has six songs written by Bharat Vyas and composed by Shrikant. On further search I found that the music director’s name is Shrikant Telang. Other than this movie, he has given music to only one other Hindi Movie. We are all aware about the multifaceted S.N. Tripathi who was the director of this movie and that he was himself a great composer, but he had not composed the music for this movie.
The singers for this movie included Suresh Wadkar, Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Usha Mangeshkar, and Lata Mangeshkar.
Today I present the first song from this movie on this blog, which is sung by Mohd Rafi. Lyrics are by Bharat Vyas and music is composed by Shrikant. On screen it is Mahesh Kothare (as Sant Gyaaneshwar) lip-syncing this song. We can see Sudhir Dalvi, Dev Kumar, Mohan Choti, Madan Puri, Meena T and many others present in the picturisation of this song.
Iy is a nice philosophical song to listen to. With this song, themovie ‘Sant Gyaaneshwar-1981’ makes its debut on the blog. All movies of this title released in various years are now represented in the blog. Sant Gyaneshwar was first released in 1940, then in 1964, and finally in 1981. Songs from all these titles are now showcased in the blog.
