#the Decade of Forties – 1941 – 1950 #
—————————————————————

Today’s song is from the ‘1950’ movie “Alakh Niranjan” alias ‘Raja Gopichand’. It was directed by Gunjal for ‘Super Pictures’, Bombay. It had Nirupa Roy, Durga Khote, Sapru, Ulhas, Trilok Kapoor, Shanta Kunwar, and Chandra Kumari, Chaubey ji, Mithhoo Miyaan, Master Ratan and others.

“Alakh Niranjan-1950” was a movie from the genre of ‘social movies’. Our in-house encyclopedia Shri Arunkumar Deshmukh jee has mentioned in his post that this movie is based on ‘Nath- Puran’. He has mentioned other details about this movie and about ‘Nath Sampradaay’ in his post on the blog. I am giving below some extract from his post about this movie to give the readers some idea about this movie.

This film is based on a story from Nath – Puran. In India, the Nath Sampradaay (Sect) is spread over the whole country. In every place it has its local name and own folk lore. The story of the film shows how Raja Gopichand changes his mind-set about the ‘Nath Sampradaay’, to which his mother also belongs, how he renounces his Throne and how he joins as a ‘Gosaavi ‘of the Nath Sampradaay. It is a story from Bengal, where Raja Gopichand was ruling. Alakh Niranjan is the call, which a ‘Gosaavi’ gives, when he visits a house for his daily bhikshaa. These Gosaavis do not accept cooked food. They take only the raw material, as they are supposed to cook and eat.

Music for this movie “Alakh Niranjan-1950’ was composed by Premnath (not to be confused with the yesteryears’ actor Premnath). We have ten songs in this movie and these were contributed by two lyricists i.e. Rammurty (two songs) and Manohar Khanna (eight songs). The singers for this movie are Muhammad Farooqui, Sulochana Kadam, Shamshad Begam, Mohd Rafi, Rajkumari, and Satish. So far three songs from this movie have already been posted on this blog. Incidentally all the three songs posted on the blog are written by Manohar Khanna. Today I am presenting a song penned by Rammurty. Singer of this song is Sulochana Kadam. Today’s song is a nice song sung by a beloved for her husband and how much she loves her husband.

Let us listen to this song now…
