“Aarsi”(1947) was directed by Daaud Chand for Jeewan Pictures, Lahore. There movie had Meena Shorey, Al Nasir, Ajmal, Asha Posle, Ramlal, Zahoor Shah, Kamla, Iqbal, P N Bali, Chandrashekhar, Bheemsen, Kukku, Pran etc. in it.
There were eleven songs in the movie. Three songs have been covered in the past.
Here is the fourth song from “Aarsi”(1947) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by S D Batish. Sarshar Sailaani is the lyricist. There were two music directors in this movie (Lachchiram and Shyam Sundar) and it is not known who composed which song. But the uploader of this song (who obviously has the record of this song with him) mentions Shyam Sundar as the music director.
From the lyrics, it appears that this song is about the situation that prevailed in the wake of partition of India.
Only audio of this rare song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
