Despite going at a slow rate, we have arrived at another blog century milestone with this post. Slowly and steadily, we find ourselves staring at the figure of song post number 18900 !
I start worrying about the century post at the last moment. This time, the century post got finalised one day in advance. In the process of doing background word on the blog (which consumes most of my time), I arrived at the song that the song post number 18900 needed to be.
What is special about this song that makes it suitable for the occasion ? This song does not even figure in HFGK. That is how special and rare this song is.
The song is from the movie “Mohabbat Aur Jung”(1967). HFGK has very skethy information on this movie. The only information about this movie that HFGK gives us is that it is an Uppal Productions, Bombay presentation. The movie is mentioned as a stunt movie. Iqbal Qureshi is mentioned as music director and Taj Bhopali and the lyricist. Two female solo songs (bearing same record number N55539) sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Krishna Kalle respectively are mentioned. That is all the information that is there in HFGK.
Both above mentioned songs have been covered in the blog in the past.
The song under discussion is a song that does not find any mention in HFGK. According to fresh information on this movie that have become available on this movie, this rare to find movie was produced by K Uppal and Sushil Seth for Uppal Productions and it directed by S Azim. Prem Manek wrote the “story”. The movie had Randhawa, Helen, Rammohan, Indira, Mohan Sherry, Sundar etc in it.
Now we know that “Mohabbat Aur Jung”(1967) has at least three more songs apart from the two that have been mentioned in HFGK. I have picked one of these three “missing” songs as the 18900th song of the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Kamal Barot and chorus. Taj Bhopali is the lyricist. Music is composed by Iqbal Qureshi.
This song, which I obviously heard for the first time only just now, sounds like a lovely and lively song. From the sounds f it, this song appears to be a twin dance song picturised on two female dancers. The song reminds us of other twin dance songs of those years such as “Hansta Hua nooraali chiehra” (Parasmani)(1963).
Some of the lyrics of this song had me stumped. I have no idea what “Julaale man julaalaa” means. I addition, I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I feel that the lyricist should have used simpler words rather than the words that were unfamiliar for most music lovers.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
