“Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool” (1969) was was produced by S M Sagar and Anoop Kumar and directed by Satyen Bose for Anoop Kumar Productions, Bombay. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Deb Mukherjee, Alka, Nirupa Roy, Raj Mehra, Anoop Kumar, Rakesh, Helen, Pran, Kumud Tripathi, Manik Dutt, Kumari Uma, Mughni Abbasi, Shekhar Purohit, Janki Das, Tarun Ghosh, Bazid Khan, Radhey Shyam, Gautam Mukherjee, Pardesi, Uma Dutt, Madhup Sharma, Prakash Misra, Behari, M.A. Latif, Vinod Sharma, Lalit Kapoor, Genius, Ramlal, Amrit Rana, Nadir, Deepak, Aziz Siddiqui,Habib etc in it.

The movie had five songs in it. Three songs have been covered soo far.

Here is the fourth song from “Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool” (1969) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Taj Bhopali is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The song is picturised as a cabarat dance song on Helen. One can watch lots of other actors milling around the dance floor which also doubled up as Villain’s den in Hindi movies of those days.

One can see four guitarists also. I have a feeling that they may be related in some way or the others to the dancers of Hindi movies. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the various actors seen in the picturisation.

Song-Ho o suno to jaani (Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool)(1969) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Taj Bhopali, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Missing Films of 1960s – 54
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

‘Mohabbat Aur Jung’ seems to be a rare and obscure film from 1967. The video of this song is available online, but not much information about the film is available. Existence of the video indicates that the film is in public domain. However, neither the film, nor any other song from this film is as yet uploaded.

The information in the Geet Kosh is also not complete. It identifies this as a stunt film, from the banner of Uppal Productions, Bombay. The list of actors, and the director’s name, both are not available. The uploader has indicated a list of names, viz., Radha Saluja, Ram Mohan, Helen, Shankar, purportedly to be a short list of actor names in this film. Film’s director is S Azim. The list of actors is Randhawa, Helen, Indira, Sunder, Ram Mohan, Sherry, Sujata Bakshi.
[Ed Note: The names of actors, and that of the director are provided by dear Sadanand ji, based on the information on the film poster. Thanks Sadanand ji.]

In terms of songs also, only two songs are listed in the Geet Kosh, with an indication that there are more. The lyricist is identified as Taj Bhopali and the music direction is by Iqbal Qureshi.

This song is sung by Krishna Kalle. I am not certain of the identity of the on screen performer. Is she a young Radha Saluja, a few years younger than what we see her as in ‘Doraaha’, her better known film from 1971. I request other knowledgeable readers and friends to please help to confirm or correct.
[Ed Note: As per information provided by our dear Prakash ji, the on screen performer is Sujata Bakshi. Thanks Prakash ji.]

The song is a ‘calling the beloved’ type of song, as the protagonist is frolicking in the woods and in the waters of a river, singing the words that beckon the beloved.

With this song, the film ‘Mohabbat Aur Jung’ makes a debut on our blog today.

Song – Samaa Khoobsurat Hai, Tumhaari Zaroorat Hai  (Mohabbat Aur Jung) (1967) Singer – Krishna Kalle, Lyrics – Taj Bhopali, MD – Iqbal Qureshi

Lyrics

samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai
bahaaron se poochhun main
bahaaron se poochhun main
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

aaj to mujhko hosh nahin hai
zulf kahin aanchal bhi kahin hai
main bhi haseen hoon
dil bhi haseen hai
ye duniya khwaabon ki zameen hai
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

maujon ka paighaam hai aa ja
jalwa jalwa jaam hain aa ja
rangeen rangeen shaam hai aa ja
tujh se zara sa kaam hai aa ja
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai
bahaaron se poochhun main
bahaaron se poochhun main
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

“Chhaila Baabu”(1967) is often confused with “Chhaila Baabu”(1977). While the later was a Rajesh Khanna movie, “Chhaila Baabu”(1967) was a small budget movie that began in early 1960s. Financial and other thoubles delayed its release and it was finally released only in 1967.

Helen was known for her one mandatory dance in most movies of 1960s and 1970s. This would typically be a cabaret dance where she would sing and dance in a club. Another variation was where she would sing and dance to seduce the hero.
