With this post we add the movie ‘Zoro-1975’ to the blog.This movie had Navin Nischol, Rekha, Danny Denzongpa, Aruna Irani, Om Shivpuri, Imtiaz, Urmila Bhatt, Sudhir, Jairaj, Poornima, Asit Sen, Randhir, Birbal, Satyadeep, Mukri, Bhagwan, Johny, Nandita Thakur, Malini, Jagdish Raj, Master Asif, Habib, Shahana, Master Romi, Bindu and others. ‘Zoro-1975’ was directed by Shibu Mitra for ‘Mukul Enterprises, Bombay’. It was produced by Ram Dayal. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 31.10.1975. This movie was from the genre of costume drama.
Here I would like to mention about the actor Navin Nischol whose movies are part of my growing up years. Navin Nischol and his movies are an unforgettable part of my life from those days.
Among the galaxy of stars active on the silver screen in the seventies, Navin Nischol had carved his own niche.
I have vague memories of watching his movies like ‘Dharma-1973’, ‘Dhund-1973’, ‘Victoria No.203-1972’, ‘Saawan Bhadon-1970’, ‘Wo Main Naheen-1974’, with my elders during my younger days. In my later years I watched him in movies like ‘The Burning Train-1980’, ‘Desh Premee-1982’, ‘Hanste Jakhm-1973’ & ‘Buddha Mil Gaya-1971’ (which I think I watched on TV), ‘Babu-1985’,’Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman-1992’. The latest Navin Nischol film that I watched was‘Khosla Ka Ghosla-2006’ which I liked very much and I watched it several times. (I think I had watched ‘Muqaddar Ka Baadshah-1990’and ‘Bahaar Aane Tak -1990’ but I am not sure. There are more such other movies that I watched during this period of 1989 to 1996, but I have forgotten about them.) I cannot forget his role in the famous TV serial ‘Dekh Bhaai Dekh-1993’ which also I liked very much.
However, as far the today’s movie is concerned; I never heard about this movie when it was released. I became aware of it only when I came across its name in Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980).
This movie ‘Zoro’ has five songs written by Verma Malik and the music for this movie is composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. I don’t remember hearing any songs from this movie in the past.
Today I am presenting a song from this movie which is sung by Asha Bhonsle. The song is picturised on Aruna Irani. We have Danny Dengzongpa and others are also visible in the picturisation of this song. This song is a nice composition of Kalyanji-Anandji with West Asian arabic/ persian style of music.
