Today’s song is from the movie ‘Dashehraa-1956’. This is a rare song which has been made available more than a year back on internet. Regulars on this blog would have noted that there were many songs that were considered as ‘not traceable’ or were hitherto unavailable on internet are coming up gradually in recent years or more precisely in last couple of years. During the ‘regulars meet at Mumbai’ in 2023 I had made this observation during discussions about such ‘untraceable’ songs. On this blog our senior Shree Sudhir jee had taken up a series for the ‘missing films’ of the decade of ‘sixties’ earlier. At that time only one song from such movies (around hundred in numbers) was dug up and posted. I have noted that for all such movies now their other songs have also come up and posted either by music companies or passionate music lovers. This is ultimately going to increase the number of songs available with us and in turn reducing the number of songs that were considered as lost or un-traceable.
Well, today’s movie ‘Dashehraa-1956’ had made its debut on the blog on 09.02.2012 with its most well-known song ‘doosron kaa dukhdaa door karnewaale’ written and sung by Kavi Pradeep. Thereafter second song from this movie was posted on 09.12.2016 which was presented by Shree Arunkumar jee. Today I am presenting the third song from this movie. ‘Dashehraa-1956’ was directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi for ‘Navkala Niketan, Bombay’. Ramesh Vyas was the producer of this movie. The cast of this movie included Shahu Modak, Nirupa Roy, Roop Kumar, Gope, Gajanan Jagirdar, S.N. Tripathi, Surendra, Yashodhara Katju, Kumkum, Jagdish Kanwal, Kamal, Heera Sawant, Rooplakshami, Suryakant, Narbada Shankar, Mohan Choti, Madhav Kale, Bela Sorkar, Jaya Rao, Tiwari and others. Rajan Haksar, Manorama, and Ramesh Thakur had a guest appearance in this movie. This movie was passed by the censor board on 25.02.1956.
“Dashehraa” has eleven songs written by Kavi Pradeep (ten songs) and Saraswati Kumar Deepak (one song). Music for this ‘mythological/devotional’ genre of movies was composed by N. Datta. The playback singers for this movie were Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Kavi Pradeep, Shamshad Begam and Asha Bhonsle. Lata Mangeshkar, Kavi Pradeep, and Shamshad Begam had one solo song each in this movie. Mohd Rafi’s voice was used in three songs and Asha Bhonsle sung five songs in this movie.
Today I am presenting the song sung by Shamshad Begam which is a nice ‘rocking’ song, where ‘husn’ is in threatening and alerting all who would dare to do ‘trouble’ or they have to be ready for the consequences including losing their life. 🙂
Let us now listen to this wonderful song in the voice of Shamshad Begam. Only audio of this song is available, so it is difficult to say on whom this song has been picturised on screen. It is a very rarely heard song, and I am sure that I have never listened to it earlier. This composition by N. Datta is sinks well with the common words’ lyrics penned by Kavi Pradeep.
