(Birthday – Music Composer-Rajesh Roshan)
Today 24th May 2025 is the seventieth birthday of music director-lyricist Rajesh Roshan(born on 24.05.1955). His music composed for Hindi movies is part of growing years of people like me who were born in late sixties or early seventies. Many of his compositions have been pure nostalgia for me and same might be the case for many people like me. Rajesh Roshan has carved a niche for himself in the history of Hindi Film Music. There is a long list of his compositions that I like very much, and as and when possible I have also shared such songs on this blog.
Today on the occasion of his birthday I am presenting a song from the movie “Bhagwaan Dada-1986”. It was directed by J Omprakash for ‘Film Kraft’. Rakesh Roshan was the producer of this movie. Story of this movie was written by Dr Rahi Masoom Raza. Screenplay and dialogues for this movie were written by Ramesh Pant. Editing of this movie was done by Nand Kumar. Indeevar and Farooque Kaiser were the lyricists for this movie and its music was composed by Rajesh Roshan. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 09.04.1986.
The cast for ‘Bhagwaan Dada-1986’ has Rajinikant, Rakesh Roshan, Sridevi, Tina Munim, Danny Denzongpa, Hrithik Roshan (as a child artiste then), Paresh Rawal, Satish Shah, Sujit Kumar, Om Prakash, Baby Guddu, Deepika Chikhliya and others.
I have yet to watch this movie. However, I would like to mention in short about this movie, what I read during preparation for this post. As the name of this movie suggests it is the story of ‘Bhagwaan Daadaa’ (played by Rajinikant) who initially is a criminal working for a gang, but never supporting or doing crime against women. During one incident when his boss (Danny) rapes a women she commits suicide leaving her son behind. Bhagwaan Dada vows to change and also decides to raise the child who grows up as Govinda (Hrithik Roshan). Later on several plots are woven in the movie which finally culminates into the killing of Govinda by Shambhu (Danny) and Bhagwaan Dada losing his life while fighting with the criminals and eliminating Shambhu.
The song under discussion is in two parts, where the first part gets played when Bhagwan Dada is shown parenting Govinda and Govinda is growing from a toddler to a child. And the second part of this song happens when Govinda dies in the arms of Bhagwan Dada, after he is beaten to death by Shambhu.
The song is in the voice of Kishore Kumar (which I was specifically looking for). The first part is lip-synced by Rajinikant on screen. Lyrics are by Indeevar and music is composed by Rajesh Roshan. With this song the movie ‘Bhagwaan Daadaa-1986’ makes its debut on the blog.
Let us wish Rajesh Roshan a very happy birthday and a healthy and peaceful life ahead. Thanking him for all the joy and pleasure he has given to us through his compositions!!!
