Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 13

After posting a jhakaas duet by Kishore-Asha from Mr. Romeo 1973, I turn my attention back towards the Kumaune/Ansune songs of Asha Bhosle.

Today’s song is from “Salaakhen-1975”. It was directed by A. Salaam for ‘Eagle Films, Bombay’.

It was produced by Parvesh Mehra.

The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Sulakshana Pandit, Ramesh Deo, Amrish Puri, Sudhir, Sajjan, Tarun Ghosh, Anjana, Brahm Bharadwaj, M. Rajan, Mac Mohan, Birbal, Master Ratan, Master Chikoo, Jairaj, V. Gopal, Keshto Mukherjee and others.

Mehmood and Shammi Kapoor had special appearances in this movie.

All other details of other technicians can be found in the song posted by our friend Mr. Avinash Scrapwala, in his post.

Salaakhein is a crime drama centered around Vijay (played by Shashi Kapoor), a strong-willed and righteous man who becomes entangled in a web of crime, injustice, and betrayal. Framed for a crime he did not commit, Vijay is wrongfully imprisoned. While behind bars, he discovers a deeper conspiracy involving a powerful criminal syndicate led by sinister figures, including corrupt officials and a gangster played by Danny Denzongpa.

Fueled by a thirst for justice and revenge, Vijay escapes from prison and sets out on a relentless mission to expose the truth, clear his name, and bring the real culprits to justice. Along the way, he is helped by a compassionate woman (Sulakshana Pandit), who believes in his innocence and supports him in his journey.

The film blends action, emotional drama, and social commentary, with themes of justice, morality, and redemption. With hard-hitting dialogues and dramatic confrontations, Salaakhein showcases the classic 1970s Bollywood formula of the underdog fighting against a corrupt system.

This movie has six songs penned by three lyricists viz. Dev Kohli, Ravindra Jain and Hasrat Jaipuri.

Today’s song “Barkha Ka Mausam” sung by Asha Bhosle is written by Ravindra Jain.

This song is a sensuous and emotionally intense song, set during the monsoon season — a time of romance, longing, or inner turmoil. Sung with passion and subtle pathos by Asha Bhosle, the song blends poetic melancholy with subdued sensuality.

The song features soft orchestration with elements like sitar, flute, ghungroo, and light tabla, capturing the sensual undertone of the monsoon. Asha Bhosle delivers the song in a low, emphasizing mood over vocal acrobatics or murkis, a style she has mastered. It evokes a poetic conflict — rain is supposed to soothe and cool, but for the singer, it triggers pain or suppressed passion.

This song is also recorded in Bengali – Amoro Badolo Din is sung by Shipra Bosu, while it is composed by Ravindra Jain, the lyricist is Bhabesh Gupta.

The video has only one antaraa, whereas there are two full antaraas in the version as per the audio link. The lyrics given below are based on the audio version.

Song-Barkha ka mausam jee ko jalaa ke chalaa jaaye (Salaakhen)(1975) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Ravindra Jain, MD-Ravindra Jain

Lyrics:

aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa

barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
haaye re ye paanee
agan laga ke chala jaaye
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye

bhala naheen laage mohe
piya bin rehna
man kee yeh baatein
man hee se kehna
bhala naheen laage mohe
piya bin rehna
man kee yeh baatein
man hee se kehna
paagal papeeha kuchh
samajh na piya piya
gaa ke chala jaaye
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye

kabhee kabhee khoya hua
mil bhee jaaye
jaaye jo samay phir
mud ke na aaye
kabhee kabhee khoya hua
mil bhee jaaye
jaaye jo samay phir
mud ke na aaye
dhartee se nabh tak
andhera andhera
jaane kab sooraj
laayega savera
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
saajan salona jahen
aisa na ho dwaare tak
aake chala jaaye
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
haaye re ye paanee
agan laga ke chala jaaye
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
barkha ka mausam
jee ko jalaa ke chala jaaye
