#the Decade of Seventies – 1981 – 1990 #

#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (missing movies of 1975- Lyricist Ravindra Jain)
————————————
Welcome all to this post which marks my 6th hundredth post on the blog. This year ‘2022’ has been a very good year for me especially in terms of my contributions for the blog. This year I celebrated milestone of ‘five hundredth post’ in the month of ‘April 2022’ and today I reach six hundred posts on the blog. (there is much more to my statistics for the year ‘2020’, ‘2021’ & ‘2022’ , but that is the matter of another post which I would take at appropriate time 🙂 in the future.).
I once again express my gratitude for Atul ji for giving me this opportunity to be associated with this blog. I am also grateful to Sudhir ji and all senior members on the blog for their blessings and always supporting me and appreciating my efforts.
In my earlier post I had mentioned that these days I was looking for songs written by Ravindra Jain.
Ravindra Jain who started his journey into Hindi Film Music in the decade of ‘seventies’ bring with him a ‘freshness’ in the Hindi Film Music with his touch of ‘folk based’ music and some simple poetry in his lyrics.
We are all aware of how Ravindra Jain who was ‘blind’ since his birth went on to become a successful composer in Hindi Film Industry and produced some of the immortal songs for Hindi Film Music. He not only achieved ‘multifaceted’ success in the Film Industry but also composed for TV Serials and wrote songs too.
For today’s occasion I will not go into the details of his biography. Instead, I will present here his filmography since his debut in Hindi movies as a music composer in 1972- to till the end of that decade i.e., 1971-1980.
I have earlier compiled and presented the filmography of Sahir Ludhianvi and Khayyam Saab on the blog. I wish to present to compile and present the filmography of Kavi Pradeep, Pt. Narendra Sharma on the blog in the future.
For this post I have tried and compiled the filmography of Ravindra Jain as a ‘lyricist’ till the year of 1980. For the years 1980s and onwards I have added those movies which have already been represented on the blog till now (and not all the movies of him from 1980 onwards. That I have left for another post in the future).
Let us now have a look over the filmography of Ravindra Jain as mentioned above.

Ravindra Jain as a lyricist has already reached over one hundred songs on the blog.
But still, there are many of his movies from this decade 1971-1980 which have not been presented on the blog. I will also try to bring them on here in the future.
Today I am introducing one such movie from this decade.
Today’s song is from the ‘1975’ movie ‘Salaakhen’.
In my previous post I had mentioned that Ravindra Jain’s compositions from the movies ‘Geet Gaata Chal-1975’, ‘Chitchor-1976’, ‘Fakira-1976’, and etc? ( 🙂 ) did feature in the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of the year ‘1976’ …
This ‘etc?’ is the song of today’s which ranked at 29th in the ‘annual list of Binaca Geetmala of 1976’. This song was composed as well as written by Ravindra Jain.
A sweet-melodious song to listen to …
I would also like to repeat the same about this movie ‘Salaakhen-1975’ that I do not remember to have read about this movie or any discussion about this movie among our friend circle then. And I think this movie was also a non-successful and a forgotten movie of its time.
“Salaakhen-1975” was directed by A. Salaam for ‘Eagle Films, Bombay’.
It was produced by Parvesh Mehra.
It had Shashi Kapoor, Sulakshana Pandit, Ramesh Deo, Amrish Puri, Sudhir, Sajjan, Tarun Ghosh, Anjana, Brahm Bharadwaj, M. Rajan, Mac Mohan, Birbal, Master Ratan, Master Chikoo, Jairaj, V. Gopal, Keshto Mukherjee and others.
Mehmood had a guest appearance in this movie.
Shammi Kapoor has a special appearance in this movie.
Story of this movie was written by ‘Eagle Films’ Story department. Screenplay of this movie was written by S.P. Baxi and dialogues were written by A. Salaam (who also the director of this movie).
Editing of this movie was done by S.M. Asgar. Pran Mehra was the Chief Editor of this movie.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 27.12.1975.
This movie has six songs penned by three lyricists viz. Dev Kohli, Ravindra Jain and Hasrat Jaipuri as per details given below.
Sr.No | Song Title | Lyricist | Singer/s |
---|---|---|---|
01 | Chal chal kahin akele mein | Dev Kohli | Sulakshana Pandit, Hemlata, chorus |
02 | Barkha ka mausam jee ko jalaa ke chalaa jaaye | Ravindra Jain | Asha Bhonsle |
03 | Mere dekh ke lambe baal | Hasrat Jaipuri | Asha Bhonsle |
04 | Seema seema seema sehne ki bhi hai koi seema | Ravindra Jain | Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle |
05 | Maze udaa lo jawaani rahe na rahe | Hasrat Jaipuri | Asha Bhonsle |
06 | Chal chal kahin akele mein | Dev Kohli | Sulakshana Pandit |
Music for this film was composed by Ravindra Jain.
Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle and on screen it is lip-synced by Shashi Kapoor and the beautiful Sulakshana Pandit.
(Also seen in the picturisation is one actor playing a police whom I am unable to identify now).
As mentioned above, with the today’s song this movie ‘Salaakhen-1975’ makes its debut on the blog today and joints the ‘same title movie ‘Salaakhen-1998’ on the blog. 🙂
Let us now enjoy this song which certainly would take back many to those wonderful era of ‘seventies’ and bring back memories of those years …

Song-Seema Seema Seema sehne ki bhi hai koi seema(Salaakhen)(1975) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Ravindra Jain, MD-Ravindra Jain
Lyrics
seema seema seema
sehne ki bhi hai koi seema
seema pe sipaahi baithha hai
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa
seema seema seema
sehne ki bhi hai koi seema
seema pe sipaahi baithha hai
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa
seema seema seema aa
kuchh log yahaan par lete hain
kaanon ka nazar se kaam
o o o o o
ho o o o o
kuchh log yahaan par lete hain
kaanon ka nazar se kaam
naadaan tu deewaanon ki tarah
kyun leta hai mera naa aam
seema o seema o seema
dheeraj ki bhi hai koi seema
behtar hai ke ham tum karwaa len
ab chal kar apnaa beema
hey seema seema seema
tum sar se lekar paaon talak
lagti ho mujassim raat
tum sar se lekar paaon talak
lagti ho mujassim raat
anjaam pe bhi zaraa rakhnaa nazar
phir karnaa koi aaghaaz
seema seema seema
chup rehne ke hai koi seema aa
koi bhed agar khul jaaye kahin to
ban jaayegaa keema
seema seema seema
pathhar ke sanam
ab kuchh to kaho
yoon hi ho naa jaaye shaam
ho ho ho ho o
aa aa aa haa aa
pathhar ke sanam
ab kuchh to kaho
yoon hi ho naa jaaye shaam
seema se zaraa tum aage badhho
to dil ko miley aaraam
seema seema seema
le tod di maine seema aa
raho saath magar
aisaa na karo jo mushqil ho jaaye jeena
hey
seema seema seema
sehne ki bhi hai koi seema
seema pe sipaahi baithha hai
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa
zaraa bol dheema dheema aa

Avinash ji
Kudos and many congratulations for marking your 6th century post on the blog. A long haul from “Sang Mere Nikle The Saajan” – it is a wonderful journey that we are all making together, and your efforts are certainly remarkable.
I remember this song well. From a time when going to the cinema was still a passion with me, along with avidly following the film songs on the radio, this is one of my fancied songs. Thanks for bringing it up.
With best wishes and encouragement to take this number higher in the coming months and years.
Sincerely
Sudhir
