Hullo Atuldom
There have been a few incidents in recent times that highlight the Unpredictable Nature of life. There are ‘n’-number of whatsapp forwards that bring this to our notice.
The first one I received said this
“Life is so unpredictable..
You go for a vacation, and terrorists shoot you.
You go to a trophy parade and it ends in a stampede.
You go in a flight for work/vacation, and it crashes.
You are studying in your hostel, and the plane falls on you.”
Some one added
“You go on a honeymoon and are murdered “
Atulite Maheshji shared the same thought which went a step further.
life is so wildly unpredictable.
You go on a vacation with your loved ones
and terrorists open fire.
You show up to celebrate a trophy win
and it ends in a deadly stampede.
You board a flight for work or leisure
and it never lands.
You head to the hostel mess for a simple lunch and a plaane crashes onto the building.None of them ever thought it would end like that.
None of them woke up thaat morning thinking that it would be their last.
They were just…living.
Doing what people do.
Living in the moment, trusting tomorrow would come. And that’s the hardest truth about life:
Death rarely knocks. It just enters.
Quietly. Instantly. Without permission.
and most times, in ways we can never prepare for.So if you’re breathing right now, pause.
Not out of fear, but out of gratitude.
Look around. Feel the air. Hear the sounds.
This moment, as ordinary as it may seem, is a privilege.Call someone you love. Tell them. Don’t wait.
Step outside. Look at the sky even if it’s cloudy.
Smile at someone. Be kind, even when you don’t have to be.
Let go of things not worth holding. Forgive if you can.
Live deliberately. Speak honestly. Love fiercely.Because every day we wake up is a day we weren’t promised.
And that’s what makes it so precious.
The above reminds us to be “thankful” that we are seeing another day.
There are numerous proverbs that teach us the importance of respecting ‘our time on this planet’. Getting through our responsibilities & duties. There is a well-known couplet (Doha), echoing the same thinking, attributed to the (14th or 15th century) Saint poet Kabir Das
“काल करे सो आज कर, आज करे सो अब।
पल में परलय होएगी, बहुरि करेगा कब।”
I fully agree with these lines of thinking. Life is too short & the time that one has as healthy individuals is even more limited. We have hundreds of little things to accomplish with the limited time at hand. But, at the pace at which life is rushing we also need to find time to ‘smell the coffee’- meaning appreciate the little joys of life. Like one of my favourite songs says – ‘kal kya hoga kis ko pata’
‘jab tak
dum mein hai dum pyaare
tab tak
kahe ka hai gum pyaare’
Meaning we need to find a balance (not necessarily a perfect balance) between work life, family life & fun time. And all these can be including our near-n-dear because ‘har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi’.
(I must admit that this post of mine has a lot of borrowed material- borrowed from Whatsapp forwards, Sant Kabir, Gulshan Baawra, and Javed Akhtar. But that is because I am neither a poet nor a writer; hence I rely on stuff written by others to express my point of view & thoughts)
There is a lot of seriousness creeping into this post.
Let us have a fun song, which is philosophical. It is from the 2010 released Rohit Shetty directed & Dhilin Mehta produced “Golmaal 3”. The songs were composed by Pritam Chakraborty (born on 14th June 1971). The main lyricist of the film was Rakesh Kumar Pal who is credited in movies as Kumaar. The movie has six songs including the reused “DISCO DANCER” hit which was written by Anjaan. The playback singers used were KK, Anushka Manchanda, Monali Thakur, Shaan, Antara Mitra, Neeraj Shridhar, Sunidhi Chauhan & Sudesh Bhosle. The reused song, which was originally in Vijay Benedict’s voice was sung by Bappi Lahiri in this film.
The cast was led by Mithun Chakravarty & Ratna Pathak Shah with Ajay Devgan & Shreyas Talpade playing Ratna Pathak’s (adopted) children. Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor & Kunal Khemu playing Mithun’s children. Kareena Kapoor was the female lead who is growing up under Ratna Pathak’s watchful eye. “Golmaal 3” was inspired heavily by the 1978 Basu Chatterjee directed “Khatta Meetha”.
16th June 1950 is the date of birth of Gouranga Chakraborty who made his debut in films in 1976 through Mrinal Sen’s ‘Mrigayaa’ as Mithun Chakravarty. (Release date was 6th June 1976 making this the 49th year of his being in public eye.). This was followed by many forgettable films before he got recognition through “Surakksha” as GunMaster G9. He had tried his hands at a variety of roles in many masala movies before finding his next success as & in ‘DISCO DANCER’ in 1982.
Mithunda (as he is fondly addressed) has had a career full of many hits & misses and there was a period in the 1990s when there used to be a Mithun Chakravarty movie releasing every 10-15 days. He has paired up with almost all male actors of his time in 2 & 3 hero films with Jackie Shroff being the most regular co-actor (don’t have the exact number of films they have worked together in). Shakti Kapoor used to be a regular in the films with Mithun as protagonist; an interesting trivia being that Mithun was Shakti Kapoor’s senior at the film institute. Ranjeeta was actress who was most commonly opposite Mithun Chakravarty in the 1980s followed by Padmini Kolhapure.
For the last 10-15 years he is a regular on television as super- Judge for dance reality shows. And I feel he makes a very lovable judge- his comments are always full of encouragement to the contestants.
Here is a song featuring the whole cast of “Golmaal 3” where we cam see a not-so-old Mithun matching steps with the young brigade and not faltering.
Wishing the DISCO DANCER Mithunda all the best as he turns 75.

Song-Apna har din aise jiyo jaise ke aakhree ho (Golmaal 3)(2010) Singers-Anushka Manchanda, Shaan, Lyrics-Kumar, MD-Pritam Chakraborty
Lyrics
ye
zindagee
raftar se
chal padee
jaate huye
raahon mein
hamse abhee
kah ke gayee
hamaara
yeh waqt hamaara
jo ik baar gaya
to aaye na dobaara
samajh lo zara ye
hawaaon ka ishaaraa
mere yaaron
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
whenever we know
we are having a blast
sing it oye o o o
living every day
like it is your last
sing it oye o o o
living for today
letting go of the past
sing it oye o o o o
give it up
give it up
everybody say
oye o o
wow wow
hum sab jo saath mein rahen
khushiyaan sab haath mein rahen
gham se bas faasle rahen yoon
are tu ru tu tu ru tu
chaahe kaheen bhee kisee bhee mod par
bigdegee koi baat bhee agar
milke ik dooje se kahen yoon
yeh baaten
hain chhotee motee baaten
yeh aaye jaaye jaise ki din aur raaten
na aankhon se lagaana
kabhee ye barsaaten
mere yaaron
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
living for today
letting go of the past
sing it oye o o o o
give it up
give it up
everybody say
oye o o
wow wow
duniya matlab kee yaar hai
iskee aadat bekaar hai
iss se kum rakhna vaasta tu
turu tu tu tu tu
apnon se rakhna dostee
inn se hee pooree har kamee
inn mein hi dhoondh raasta tu u u
na jaana
ye toone na jaana
ye manzil teree
inhen hai tujhe paana
hai maine kaha jo
uss se miley zamaana
mere yaaron
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo toh iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
jiyo toh iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhree ho
ye zindagi
raftaar se
chal padee
jate hue
raho me
hamse abhi
kah ke gayee
hamara
yeh waqt hamara
jo ik bar gaya
to aaye na dobara
samajh lo zara ye
hawao ka ishara
mere yaro
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhri ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhri ho
apna har din aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhri ho
jiyo to iss pal aise jiyo
jaise ki aakhri ho
