Hullo Atuldom

A song from a new movie (by the standards of this blog) for the listening pleasure of followers of this blog.

‘Hungama (The Ruckus)’ is a 2003 release – nearly 20 years old already –  that was produced by Venus records and tapes and directed by Priyadarshan. One of the many that Priyan (as his friends in the South address him as) remade from Malayalam hits. It was a remake of Priyans’ Malayalam ‘Poochakkoru Mookkuthi’ (meaning A Nose-ring for the Cat) which was itself a remake of the Telugu movie ‘Gopala Rao Gari Ammayi’ which had elements borrowed from the plot of Charles Dickens ‘The Strange Gentleman’.

‘Hungama’ had Rimi Sen, Akshay Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani as the youngsters and Paresh Rawal, Shoma Anand, Shakti Kapoor, Neena Kulkarni, Rajpal Yadav, Tiku Talsania, Upasna Singh, Sanjay Narvekar, Manoj Joshi, Razzaq Khan, etc. and Malayalam film actor Jagadish in a minuscule role of Paresh Rawal’s housekeeper. The movie had music by Nadeem Shravan for songs written by Sameer. Babul Supriyo, Shaan, Sadhana Sargam, Richa Sharma, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Abhijeet, Sonu Nigam and Kumar Sanu were the playback singers used.

The movie revolved around the confusion caused by two characters having the same name. Both Shoma Anand and Rimi Sen are called ‘Anjali’. Then, the conning of Kachra Seth (Shakti Kapoor) by Anil Singh claiming to be Paresh Rawal’s son Munna Tiwari (Sanjay Narwekar) adds to more confusion. Plus, there is the usual love triangle which gives us romantic songs. But, for me, the highlight in the movie is where Shoma Anand doubts her husband (Paresh Rawal) of having a relation with Rimi Sen and Paresh Rawal doubting his wife as her character undergoes a change the minute she lands in their city-home. As if to add fuel to fire Akshay Khanna keeps visiting their house and asking for Anjali (meaning Rimi Sen) which Paresh construes as Anjali (Shoma Anand).

As can be seen from the above, Paresh Rawal was the main character in this movie, just as he was in many of Priyadarshan’s Hindi movies ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Hulchul’, ‘Chup Chup Ke’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ and a few more, all of which I have seen more than once. Today we are wishing this versatile actor on turning 67 (is he really that old, unbelievable).

Today’s song happens at a party thrown by Anjali (Shoma Anand) for her birthday where both Anjali (Rimi) and Akshay Khanna are uninvited guests. But the husband and wife feel that the other has invited their new ‘friend’ and fantasize the two dancing with their new-friend. Sadhana Sargam and Shaan are the singers who have been invited to entertain the people at the party. A very cute song which is nice on the ears.

Song – Chain Aapko Mila Mujhe Deewaangi Mili (Hungama) (2003) Singer – Shaan, Sadhna Sargam, Lyrics – Sameer, MD – Nadeem Shravan

Lyrics (Provided by Sudhir)

ey hey hey hey
la la la la
ey hey hey hey
aa haa haa

la la la la
la la la lalala lalala la

chain aap ko mila
mujhe deewaangi mili

muhe to bekhudi mili

aap se hi karta hai dil
chain aap ko mila
mujhe deewaangi mili
o ho hosh aapko mila
muhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar
aap se hi karta hai dil
chain aap ko mila

manaaun to main isko kaise

bataaun to bhala main kaise
ye ishq kya hai ye na jaane
shaidaai main

jaam aapko mila
mujhe to berukhi mili
o ho hosh aapko mila
muhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar
aap se hi karta hai dil
chain aap ko mila
mujhe deewaangi mili

koi kisi pe jaan de de
koi kare hai bewafaai
ye faaslon ka dard kya hai
ye jaanti hai bas judaai
tujhse mili
jabse nazar
deewaani main ho gayi ee ee ee
neend aapko mili
mujhe to bebasi mili
aa haa haa hosh aapko mila
muhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar
aap se hi karta hai dil
chain aap ko mila
mujhe deewaangi mili

chain aap ko mila
mujhe deewaangi mili
aa haa haahosh aapko mila
muhe to bekhudi mili

Welcome 2021♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪

I wanted to embellish the heading of this post “Welcome 2021” with some emoticons, but since the keyboard has no such facility, dropped the idea. Google has the copy past option somewhere, but it seems like too much hassle. Obviously, everyone at google is working from home. Me thinks, all those big, huge, luxurious complexes hosting those multinational and national corporate offices, are soon to be converted into ‘khandar’ facilities, aka Mukesh Mills for shooting of films outdoorsy songs :-), fountains, glass panels, pillars and all. Not to mention funky cafe’s and state of the art gym and sports facilities.

Recently, I have been looking at a lot of outdoorsy, going places kind of songs, shot in different locations. Could not avoid the outdoor songs of “Dil Chahta hai”. But since the party song in the film is not posted, I decided on it. The song is “Koyi kahe kehta rahe kitna bhi ham ko deewaana”, by Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan and KK. In the party, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna are dancing and singing with Suchitra Pillai and Priety Zinta. It is so fast paced and all three voices are so in tune with each other, that I thought the colour coding is going to be a headache. But once I had figured out that it was Shaan’s voice for Saif Ali Khan, it was smooth sailing from then on. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics are as always inspiring and upbeat, and the music compositions by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were outstanding and were so fresh sounding back then. The whole movie, characterization, presentation, direction, cinematography and overall look was a novelty in 2001. Some call it a path breaking film, ahead of its time. But no, the time for such a fun, adventurous, neat, humorous and colorful look, had come. I read in the trivia that the songs of this film were created in 3 days, when Javed Akhtar & Farhan Akhtar headed to Lonavala along with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for the duration and all the songs were ready for recording. Now I am able to see that quarter, if not half of Mumbai party goer’s crowd, has already left for Lonavala for the New Year Eve, and roads leading to it are clogged since last two days.

Let us talk about the music score of this film. These two songs are posted:

Song Date of posting
Dil Chaahta Hai 8 August 2018
Kaisi hai ye rut 2 December 2019

1. The first song is the title song of the movie, a background song sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The phrase “chamkeele din” describes the mood and theme of the song. It is picturized as a holiday theme song on the road trip to Goa, by the three friends, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna.
2. Second song is a dreamy concoction, with Akshaye, the artist, painting a portrait of Dimple Kapadia, while he falls in love with her.
3. Jaane kyun log pyar karte hain – This song is reminisce of the “Mehboob ki Mehendi”, jaane kyun log muhobbat kiya karte hain song. It is picturized on Aamir Khan and Priety Zinta. This one has nice, to and fro banter between the two characters.
4. Woh ladki hai kahan – This song started a trend of retro songs in hindi films. Really funky take off of older movie songs, in black and white canvas, with Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Kulkarni.
5. Tanhaayee – This is a sad song, where Aamir Khan is lonely as Priety Zinta is leaving Australia. Coming to terms that he, who never let any girl close has finally fallen in love.
6. Koyikahe – The party song of the current post.

I have heard accounts of how many times people have seen this film in theatre’s when it was released in 2001, and during the first weekend of its release. I must have seen it a little later, having heard it being praised no end, by my then immediate boss who saw it the first weekend it released.

So this is a party song for the New Year party all are advised to give a miss. Not that I go anywhere on New Year’s Eve, we are more of a stay at home kind of people and family.

No matter, we will go places in the New Year, through some fabulous songs. In sha Allah.

I am sharing this beautiful ‘nazm’ which is a prayer too, received from a friend:

Aao december ko rukhsat Karen

Kuchh khushiyon ko sambhalkar
Kuchh aansuon ko taalkar
Jo lamhe guzre chaahton mein
Jo pal beete rafaaqaton mein
Kabhi waqt ke saathh chalte chalte
Jo thak ke ruke raaston mein
Kabhi khushiyon ki umeed mili
Kabhi bichhde huuon ki deed mili
Kabhi be-panah muskuraa diye
Kabhi hanste hanste ro diye
In saare lamhon ko mukhtasar Karen
Aao disamber ko rukhsat Karen

Koyi haar gayaa koyi jeet gayaa
Yeh saal bhi aakhir beet gayaa

Kabhi sapne sajaaye aankhon mein
Kabhi beet gaye pal baton mein

Kuchh talkh se lamhaat bhi thhe
Kuchh haadse aur sadmaat bhi thhe

Kuchh be-rukhi kuchh be-chaini
Kuchh man mein simti veeraani

Par ab ke baras aye dost mere
Allah se duaa ye maangi hai
Koyi pal na teraa udaas guzre
Koyi rog na tujhe raas guzre

Koyi shakhs na tujh se gilaa kare
Tu khush rahe aabaad rahe

Tu jo chahe wo ho jaaye
Tu jo maange woh mil jaaye

Teri mu’aaf wo har khataa kare
Tujhe aise hi rab ‘ataa kare

(Aameen)

Blog Day : 4102 Post No. : 15251

Amitabh Bachhchan, the star of the Millennium, was born in the than Allahabad (which is the English name of city named Ilahbad in Urdu) on 11.10.1942. His given name is Inquilab Srivastava, as per Wikipedia. This is a surprise for me and surely for many people, as a never heard fact. Also has the distinction of acting as the hero in the film ‘Inquilab’ not named after him :-). His father did name him after the slogan of freedom movement “Inquilab Zindabad”. I have never heard of anyone named ‘inquilab’, but have a friend named ‘Kranti’ which is the same thing with change in language only.

So, on 11.10.2019, he is celebrating 77th birthday as the most celebrated star actor and film personality. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shree in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 The Government of France honoured him with its highest civilian honour, “Knight of the Legion of Honour”, in 2007 for his exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond. As per Wikipedia page again, he has won 15 filmfare awards, the most nominated actor with 41 nominations so far and still counting.

His achievements include 4 national awards and Dada Saheb Phalke award for “Lifetime Achievement”.

Luckily, I had the lyrics of this song from the film “Shaan” (1980) ready to present as the birthday celebration post. I said in my reply to Peevecie’s Mom’s comments on this post that BEST buses is a topic of another post. I had this song in mind, most of which is picturized on a BEST double decker bus. “BEST” was formerly Bombay Electricity Supply and Transport, now it is renamed as ‘Brihan Mumbai Electricity Supply and Transport”. My father has been saying this to us right from the beginning that though BEST’s face are the buses which have been the more reliable lifeline of Bombay since almost a century now, its main business and source of income is the electricity supply to the city areas.

If I have to write about the BEST than the story has to start with my father. It is in family folklore that my father had after completing engineering had the option of coming to Mumbai (than Bombay) or to go to Lucknow to join the Railways. This was in the early 60’s, and Bombay was a known place of people in the family, who used to visit it for business purposes also. Also my mother’s ‘Maternal uncle’ had studied in Grant Medical College in the 40’s and everyone was familiar with the city. There was a job in hand in Lucknow, which is an unknown place, nobody in the family had ever been and far away from Belgaum. The family was in favour of Bombay as my father’s sister was already staying here at Kalyan. The decision was left to my father’s youngest sister, who voted in favour of Bambai. So he came to Bombay and joined BEST as a “foreman” trainee. There is a lot more I want to write about my father’s journey (most of it is related to BEST), but will save it for another post. Sometimes I do wonder, if he had gone to Lucknow instead of coming to Mumbai, how different the things would have turned out. I envy the people who have spent their formative years in Lucknow(met a few in my working life), their diction of Urdu language. Some of them, though convent educated did speak a fluent form of spoken khari boli which is closer in diction and grammar to the Urdu that our teachers taught us, compared to my own, the so called Urdu medium product, with our typical bambaiyya dialect. More of the royal ‘aap’ and ‘hum’ in the conversations of people of my generations who spent years in Lucknow, or thereabouts, even as far as some northern cities of Madhya Pradesh.

Will go back to Amitabh Bachchan for now. The first movie I am aware of watching in the theatre is “Do aur do Paanch”, with a similar star cast of Amitabh, Shashi Kapoor and Parween Babi, similar to ‘Shaan’ I mean. Incidently both these films were released in the same year. But we all saw “Do aur do paanch” at Belgaum during summer vacations, whereas “Shaan” was seen in Mumbai. Thereafter, Amitabh Bachchan movies were seen regularly, with the whole family. The movies of before 1980 are all seen on TV, but the movies after 1980, including “Silsila”, “Kaalia”, “Namak Halaal”, ‘Naseeb”,”KhudgarzKhuddaar”, “bemisaal”, ‘Laawaris” etc. I remember watching in theatre.

My personal favorite Amitabh films are not the comic or multistarrers, but his solo films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Bemisaal”, ‘Kaalia”, “Abhimaan” ‘Anand’ etc. Among the films of the new millennia, I have seen a few, but missed most of them. He is without doubt the longest running superstar of the hindi film industry.

So here in this song there are four singers, Kishore Kumar for Amitabh Bachchan, Mohammed Rafi for Shashi Kapoor, Asha Bhosle for Parveen Babi and Usha Mangeshkar for Bindiya Goswami. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and is composed by R. D. Burman.

The film is ‘Shaan’(1980), also mentioned in para 4 above.

I hope to bring in a party mood with today’s post. We are celebrating something very important. We are wishing our leader good health, good times, good infrastructure in the form of uninterrupted power supply and good broadband facilities. We are also wishing that he never loses interest in adding new posts and finds for us hitherto unheard songs from rare movies and gives us rare combinations in terms of music directors, singers, actors etc. And I promise on behalf of fellow followers of the blog that we will not stop following the blog, keep sending new farmaishes (requests), and the regulars will also help you keep track of upcoming milestones, birthdays anniversaries etc.

I am sure I have the support of all Atulites in what I have promised our dear Atulji. So, let us all wish him a very Happy Birthday. May you relentlessly keep the blog moving. 🙂

The party song with this post is from Dharma Prorductions’ 2006 release ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ which was directed by Karan Johar and starred his friend and favourite Shahrukh Khan with Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Kiron Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan with guest appearances by Arjun Rampal, Kajol and a few others. The movie had Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy for music directors and Javed Akhtar as the lyricist. Today’s song is in the voices of Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa, Vasundhara Das and Shaan.

Happy Birthday Atulji!!! Lets party tonight.

Happy Friendship Day (5 august 2018) to all Atulites.

It is has become a practice in recent times to celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. So, I did a little reading up about it on the internet. The website of Indian Express gave me this:

First proposed in Paraguay in 1958, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared July 30 as the official International Friendship Day on April 27, 2011. But many countries, like India, celebrate it on the first Sunday of August. It all started when Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards proposed the celebrations in 1930. Before this, only greeting cards promoted the day and it was seen more as a gimmick. However, Nane Annan, the wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, declared the adorable bear Winnie the Pooh as the global Ambassador of Friendship at the UN in 1998. Every year, friends commemorate the day by exchanging gifts, greeting cards and going out for a get-together. Several restaurants, eateries and public spaces also, in their own way, celebrate this day and ensure that it is remembered by those who visit. There is also a common practice of exchanging bands among friends, as a token of their friendship. Friendship Day is for friends, those who stood by you when nobody did, and for those who had your back even in all the adverse situations. While we do celebrate the togetherness on other days too, isn’t it important to remember friends and have a dedicated to them?

So that then is what I found on the internet; that there is practice of exchanging bands, gifts and greeting cards and at the turn of the century it has become a huge commercial activity. For that matter everything is a commercial activity these days- Mother’s Day, Valentine’s day, Father’s Day etc.

I am meeting my “bachpan ke friends” this weekend and first time in all these years that we have met the meet is on Friendship Day. I am surely excited. This is the set of friends who know me from class 1. We are meeting to celebrate the 91st birthday of a person who was our teacher-cum-headmistress at school and I wouldn’t miss the event. We are expecting all her ex-students to congregate at our school. It sure is an emotional event. It has become all the more emotion-filled after another of our old teacher passed away last week at 92, and a friend of mine wrote a very nostalgic post of how she had groomed us, taught us arithmetic etc. It just jolted me that all those who mattered to us when we were growing up have also grown up, I don’t like to say GROWN OLD or AGED.

I was thinking whether there are any songs in Bollywood that show a loving teacher and her/ his students and I remembered: “Desh ka payara sab ka sahara kaun banega”; “bachchon tum taqdeer ho” etc. In recent years we had “Taare Zameen Par”. It had Aamir Khan play art teacher, who takes special care of Darsheel Safary, a student with Dyslexia, and helps him take the first step in overcoming his learning disability. The movie showed students of class 2 or 3 and the bonding between Darsheel and his classmate who has a physical disability. I am sure all of us would have had special friends in childhood and who we cared for fondly. Today we will have a song that is sung by Shaan and Aamir Khan, written by Prasoon Joshi and music is by Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy and Shailendra Barve.

Blog Day : 3652 Post No. : 14502

ASAD 10th Anniversary Celebrations – 10
———————————————————————

I have just finished noting down lyrics of the song I have chosen – it has taken me one hour at least. I have listened to the song close to 4-5 times. I had to listen to some parts again and again trying to figure out what the singer was saying, revise my lyrics and note down which portions were sung by the male or female singer and which was sung by them both. I do this only once in a while, not being the owner of the blog but an occasional participant. It made me appreciate more and more the amount of dedication the usual writers put in. To combine all this with a write up to explain the song, add anecdotes related to the song and sometimes, stories that led to the song is all hard work, believe me. In this age and time of quick fixes, short cuts, bullet points and shortened attention spans it is difficult to even understand this kind of dedication.

Hats off to the owners of the blog (Atul ji and Sudhir ji) and a team of dedicated Atulties who fuel this blog with their enthusiasm. There are many Atulites who are intensely interested in the goings on related to the blog. I find they are all lovely people who share a deep love of music. Their camaraderie is commendable, not only do they discuss the events on the blog, but also try their best to meet up often. I have attended one such meeting and have been awed by the depth of knowledge they have of music and the various ways in which they share their knowledge.

I have chosen a song from a relatively new movie, ‘Yahan’ from 2005. It is the directorial debut of Shoojit Sircar who garnered fame for the movie that came after this, ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012) and ‘Piku’ (2015). This movie, as far as I remember, did not make any waves. I happened to see the movie in a cinema hall and was struck by it. Minissha Lamba impressed me and Jimmy Shergill is always a pleasure to watch. The story is about a Kashmiri girl, Ada, who falls in love with an army captain, Aman (Jimmy Shergill). They face many difficulties after they fall in love. Ada risks being ostracized, even killed, for loving an army officer, and that too, not of the same religion. Similarly, Aman is also labelled as a traitor for dealing with Ada’s brother who is a terrorist. The denouement is over simplistic. It is hard to imagine something as complex as Kashmir problem being solved (even in part) by a few acts of an army captain. The charm of the movie lay in the sweet character of the two protagonists. Aman is an upright man who takes full responsibility for the woman he loves. Ada hopes to find peace and love in Aman after dealing with the constant strife in her life.

Listening closely to this song while noting the lyrics, I was struck by the beautiful words penned by Gulzar, clothed most wonderfully by the lovely music composed by Shantanu Moitra. Shreya Ghoshal sings it beautifully, there are times when her voice drops to a whisper and rises again. There are times when the music fades and lets the singer’s voice do its magic. When Shreya sings “Jhelum Mein Beh Lenge”, it feesl like I am floating in Jhelum. The song drips with love and longing. It is hard for a song to be so beautiful unless all three key elements of it, music, lyrics and singing is at its best. In this song you can hear them at their best.

Enjoy the lovely song and send up thanks to our great Atulji for allowing us a platform to enjoy and share music like this and congratulations to all the creators of the blog and the readers.

kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai

aaun to subhaa
jaaun to mera
naam sabaa likhna
barf pade to
barf pe mera
naam dua likhna

zara zara aag waag paas rehti hai
zara zara kaangde ki aanch rehti hai
kabhi kabhi aaspaas chaand rehta hai
shamme bujhane….
kabhi kabhi aaspaas shaam rehti hai
aati hain raaten….

kal jo miley to
maathe pe mere
suraj uga dena
zara zara aaspaas dhoop rahegi
zara zara aaspaas rang rahenge
zara zara aaspaas dhoop rahegi
zara zara aaspaas rang rahenge

pooche jo koi meri nishani
rang henna likhna
gore badan pe ungli se mera

Blog Day : 3476 Post No. : 13963

“Shaan” (1980) was a movie directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by Sippy Films. Music was by Rahul Dev Burman and Anand Bakshi was the lyricist. The credits of the movie show a dancer shaking herself to Usha Uthup’s singing and Mohd. Rafi is credited as late Mohd. Rafi. (The release date of the movie was 12 Dec 1980.) Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and RD were the other singers.

Amitabh Bachchan- Shashi Kapoor- Shatrughan Sinha were the male lead with Sunil Dutt being credited as special appearance. Rakhee- Parveen Babi- Bindiya Goswami were the female lead with Helen and Bindu putting in guest appearances. Johnny Walker headed the supporting cast and Mazhar Khan made his debut in this movie and Kulbhushan Kharbanda got his first villain role, though the movie didn’t do the same wonders for him as Ramesh Sippy’s previous “Sholay” did for Amjad Khan. Salim- Javed were the script writers. The movie was of the typical-Bollywood-masala genre. Sunil Dutt played an upright cop with Amitabh and Shashi as his time-wasting, happy-go-lucky, “naalaayak” brothers who are jolted to being responsible persons when their brother gets gruesomely-murdered. Then the movie follows standard lines of the brothers seeking out the villain with the help of Shatru and entering the villain’s den in disguise as folk dancers etc. in between all this they also find time to con a few people, fall in love with the heroines, have lover’s tiffs (roothna manana etc.) That gives scope for around six/ seven songs in the movie of which two are love songs, one a club dance, etc. etc.

Today’s song is the club dance song which is in the vocals of Asha Bhonsle. The lead actors are present with the one-point mission of relieving Bindu (a maharani of some XYZ riyaasat) of the diamond necklace she is wearing. Bindiya Goswami and Johnny Walker have newly formed a team with Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor whereas Parveen Babi has made her own plans. I remember, at the time when this movie released, there was a lot of debate regarding the opening lines of the song. The version that used to play on the radio made the opener sound like Hema Malini’s voice and what was present on the audio cassettes sounded like Parveen Babi herself. And finally, what appeared onscreen sounded like Asha Bhonsle. At that time, in Binaca Geetmala, Ameen Sayani had remarked on this but now I can’t recall what was the final outcome of the debate on this point. But that need not stop us from enjoying the song today, right?

On the occasion of the 71st birthday of Ramesh Sippy, the maker of movies Andaz, Seeta aur Geeta, Sholay, Shakti, Saagar, Shaan etc. we are having the third song from Shaan. It also helps us in remembering Parveen Babi who passed away on 20th January 2005. The song shows Parveen Babi in what she was best at- a smiling glamourous beauty with luxuriant hair.

Today’s song is from a comparatively new film ‘Lagaan’ (2001). The song, written by Javed Akhtar and composed by AR Rahman, is sung by 5 singers, viz. Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh and Udit Narayan. Why do I feel some readers are smiling after reading my above sentence calling ‘Lagaan’ as a new film ? As compared to what my forte has been so far (old films from 1930s to 1970), ‘Lagaan’ IS a comparatively new film. . . at least for me !

Mohammed Rafi : The Incomparable (II) – Song No. 02
———————————————————————-

wo dil jo maine maangaa thaa magar gairon ne paayaa thaa
badi shai hai agar, uski pashemaani mujhe de do

Yesterday I visited the page again on the song ‘Tum Apna Ranj o Gham, Apni Pareshaani Mujhe De Do‘. I know the words are ‘badi shai hai agar‘, on which there is the long thread of comments. ‘Shai’, in common urdu is a thing or an object.  ‘badi shai hai ‘ literally means , its a big thing or a big deal.  As it is said in English that ‘its a big deal for me’ or means a lot to me.
