“Wasiyatnama”(1945) was directed by Soumen Mukherji for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Asit Baran, Sumitra Devi, Bharati, Latika Bannerji, Ahindra Chaudhary, Hiralal, Devi Mukherji, Shor, Tandon, Natwar, Tulsi etc in it.
The movie had six songs in it. Three songs are covered in the blog.
Here is the fourth song from “Wasiyatnama”(1945). HFGK describes this song as a solo sung sung by Asit Baran, but the song has a female voice as well. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify this voice that sounds familiar.
Zakir Hussain is the lyricist. Music is composed by R C Boral.
Only audio of the song is available. It is clear that Asit Baran had sung for hmself. The leading lady Sumitra devi too was an actor-singer. The female voice could wel be Sumitra devi.I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify this female voice voice.
I have not been able to get a few words in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.
